Root bound?

Hi all,
My guys are going great now that I've started watering to run off, I feel like I've got the nutes and ec dialed in. I've just noticed my pots have small white roots growing out the bottoms, I don't know what to do? Should I transplant them into bigger pics by cutting through the fabric base? They're roughly 4-5 weeks old at this stage, I think we're close to flowering. Any advise is welcomed. Thanks in advance.

The bottom of your pots are dark and damp, perfect for roots and exactly what they look for. To stop this you need to have a gap for air circulation under your pot. I use small pot stands (Bunnings) and place them in the bottom of the saucer to elevate the pots from the bottom. Having said that, your plants look super healthy. If your concerned don't cut your fabric pots up lol, just raise them to allow airflow and the air will prune those roots.

When I was using Smart pots, that was a common occurrence and I didn't see that it affected my grows. When brushing out the pots and washing in free and clear soap, many roots stayed until I tossed them due to age.

You definitely want to read up on the purpose of fabric pots, and what is called "air-pruning". That pot and those roots are both doing exactly what they are supposed be doing. No cause for concern at all! It's really hard to get a root bound cannabis plant in a fabric pot because of the air pruning. It's also not the easiest thing to transplant out of a fabric pot because of the air pruning. A plant getting root bound, happens way more often in plastic pots where the roots circle around the pot. I've yet to hear of a plants roots having space issues in a fabric pot. You're fine. Let the roots prune themselves.

Good old bunnings, we've been there a few times this grow. Thanks yeah that's what I'm thinking, after posting this thread i went into a Google deepdive and discovered air pruning so I just need to come up with a solution to my lack of air flow. I just have them sitting directly onto saucers but they sitting on top of the rim so there's no air getting in anywhere.

Thanks heaps, yeah I think I gotta make a few alterations to my set up to get more airflow to the base of the pots.
Two weeks ago I got myself an ec pen and ph pen, started watering to run off and dialed in my nutes using calmag, canna a+b and added rhizo and they've just exploded! It's encouraging to hear I haven't done anything wrong. Cheers again

I use wire racks from the dollar store to sit my plants on. I think they we supposed to
be for shoes maybe. I cut the legs on them so they sit a few inches off the ground and have a small fan pushing air under them. I don't get roots growing out of my cloth pots anymore after implementing this. I've seen other guys recommend the kitchen sink racks as well.. But if you have a dollar stand handy , try having a look for the shoe racks I mentioned, they work perfect.

Exactly. I have some carrying containers that soda, milk, etc. comes it. They are heavy duty plastic and allow airflow. Plus.they get the plants off the floor, easier to deal with. You can find them behind restaurants or convenience stores .
