I´ve planted some seeds in root riot plugs that has now gotten ready to transplant into a rockwool cube.
I pre-soaked the rockwool for a week in water with some nutes with the EC of 0.8 and got the ph to about 5.6 -5.8
I squeezed out most of the water out of the cube so that it´s just a little moist then tranplanted the little ones in the holes and put the RW-cubes on top of hydrocorn which also was soaked exactly like the Rockwool.

So is it necessary to water the cubes at some point and how moist should the rockwool be?
I´m just planning to have them there untill roots r showing then they go straight in the the DWC res :)

thanks in beforehand ;)

How old are the seedlings?
I only ever use "seaweed" or "root it" for the first 10 days in a mild solution.... I'd say little and often, keep it damp but not soaking, rockwool holds water well but can dry if its warm.

okey thanks!
my seedling is 9 days I think now, I put them in rockwool that i´ve been soaking in grow nutes for a week yesterday

I planted my 2 newest sprouts in 4in soaked rw cubes. I have been just watering a few Oz in a ring around the outside of the cube.

If the rockwool isn't sitting in a shallow pool of water I'd water from above to prevent it drying out.

When drained by gravity the water to air ratio in rockwool is something like 80/20. Letting it dry out a little is said to encourage root growth but I haven't experimented with that yet. I tend to keep it wet and just drained by gravity.

okey thanks !, is the water you use set to pH 5.5 when you water them?

Yes, for the first couple of weeks I run about 0.3 - 0.5 on the EC and try to keep pH at 5.5. The IONIC hydro nutes I use say when growing in rockwool to keep it between 5.5 and 5.8.

Once the roots are out of the rockwool it's 5.5 - 6.2 but I try to stay about the middle until bigger pH swings start happening.
