What do you think of the Autopots that Corgy is using?
I have tried some simpler Self Watering Containers and they work if I can get them adjusted for the right moisture, they could keep my grow room alive if I was on vacation for a week.

For my small grow... hand watering is better, it forces me to get up close and inspect things everyday.
But those Autopots are tempting.

I have not checked out what Corgy has but will look. Like you, I'm finding that if it's not a hassle, hand care is the best. I'll still use irrigation for mature adults as their water needs are fairly easy to manage and the irrigation get's a lot of adults done real fast... This is where I'm finding the biggest return with this method...

One thing is for sure, there are a lot of very smart folks who are members here that have a lot of great ideas they've put into practice. I particularly like doing random thread reads just to see what that new kid on the block has discovered...

I usually wait till I've got seedlings to unveil a new project but this one is worth mentioning... I've been doing multiple sowing of seeds forever but never more than say 9... Well with the new light I'll be getting, much more is possible so I've up the anti! I love White Train so I've sown 16 to be ready for the Holidays!

In my experience, there will sometimes be a dud... not always though. I just spritz them twice a day and within 3 days... magic! I've got my fingers crossed... come on babies, daddy wants a new pair of shoes!

These are 1 quart containers which will be transplanted at sex or 20 days depending... I'm liking this idea of transplanting more and more because I can use cheaper lighter soil for now and get aggressive with an expensive super soil* mix later. * no need for edge flower 'charges' with this approach. I'll make the super soil tonight and let it 'grow' till I need it... I mean grow... I'm top seeding it with clover which will put some nice N into the soil when I till it in prior to using it. I'll show that set-up later...

If there is a dud or lagger, I'll put another hole and seed in and move forward!

Nice one rhyce! It's probably the opposite way for us, our seedling soil is expensive .. Well not really, one €10 bag does 25 - 30 seedlings in 1.5 liter pots, then our after transplant mix recycled soil has a few amendments.
Good luck!

Well said... I'm working my way to recycling my soil... I figure after I've consumed about fifteen cubic feet of the expensive stuff, I can start recycling and amending... I'm eyeballing some nice spinning composters right now!

Agreed that anything you have to purchase is expensive as compared to recycled...

Per chance... what do you amend the recycled soil with?

We amend with bat guano and worm castings, sometimes we put some fresh perlite into the mix, and we used to lime it too, but haven't in a long time.
With some black pearl sprinkled in at transplant, this mix lasts 2-3 weeks before liquid nutrients were required.
But now we are doing the same as above but with a biotab per pot we hope to not have to use liquid nutrients.

Thanks for the info! Are you posting any biotab data/grows?

PS - The only think extra I'm adding which is working is bone meal. It completely avoids any Calcium deficiencies under the LEDs and the flowers love it!

The data will really be to see if it works for the time from transplant to finish with plain water only.

We've never really been crazy with nutrients either, just simple grow and bloom. I like to think that way that it's easier to see plants that excel

Five of six Triangle Kush hung to dry... Number 6 was harvested early and is in my bud jar and head right now....
All tolled will probably net 5 ounces dry... I'm very happy as these took up the same square footage as a single HBSS and I'd expect nothing less than 5 dry ounces from an HBSS. I've another crop of Triangle Kush at 30 days and can already tell that the yield will be in the 6 plus ounce range. I feel that at this point 1.5 oz per square foot is my average... lets see how much better we can get... ;)
