Grow Mediums Reverse osmosis VS tap water for hydro?

I would use the RO over the tap. At 150 ppm that's not bad, but adding another 200 ppm of cal/mag is way overkill. In fact, I'm surprised you didn't run into issues doing that. Use the RO, adding enough cal/mag to raise the starting ppm to between 125 and 150. Then add your other nutrients.

I bought an R/O system that goes underneath my sink back in January. It has its own little faucet and all that jazz. It cost $200 and some time to install, but has already paid for itself.

if nature is illegal, freedom doesnt exist..

My tap water is 150 ppm. My ro water tests at 0ppm. Is there any benefits of using tap water over ro? I'm not trying to go sterile. I use hydroguard also. I add calimagic, then micro then grow then bloom. Stirring after adding each chemical bites. Hydrolysed goes in last after I ph my water. I usually add about 200 ppm of calimagic first before base nutrients. Wasn't happy first run with Indica and arrived. Made lots of mistakes my first grow. Trying to do autoflowers and not make the same mistakes this round.
Given that you already have the RO system, that is what I would suggest using. Tap water, even though it is processed, can still contain contaminants that can play hell with your system. I use RO with UV sterilization and UC Roots as my sterilizing agent. Zero root issues. When mixing your nutes, take your RO and add enough cal/mag to raise the starting ppm to between 125 and 150. Then add your nutrients. You should then be good to go.
