Removing nodes in preflower - is it worth it?

In all seriousness has she begun her stretch yet? You're looking at a lot of tops right now. I will usually wait for stretch to kind of tell me where I'm going next with my plant management. Once she gets more vertical, it should be more apparent as to what you want/can/should do.

I have a plant with a shit ton of bud sites on her.

So my question is:
Has anyone here found it beneficial to remove satellite nodes from main branches?

Kyle kushman recommends keeping three nodes I’m sure.

Just been thinking of removing some side nodes to try and put more energy into the main branches to develop denser buds.

Has anyone found it beneficial or nah?

I look for any branches that lack thickness and prune those at 10/21 days into flower when I can really see if they will develop or not

This too. You still have time to see what is what. The plant will tell you.

Definitely, working commercially I found consistency in identifying thin branches and having the opportunity to go back over several different weeks of growth and compare. Lot of people struggle with pruning but having 6 weeks worth of various flower phases have deep insight into pruning methods and timing

ide spread it open and maybe snip some inward facing fans then give it a couple weeks before pruning any growth tips....if you have enough space anyways. :eyebrows:

I recently did this with 2 plants I had in a 2x2x4.
Both were Topped and I also broke a main branch off.
So had 7 colas on the cdlc and 8 on the amnesia.
Was just too bunched before and humidity was also harder to contain.
Constantly had water between leaves touching.

Running a single plant now and kept everything.

Going forward I am leaning towards 2 plants and 16 colas total in the 2x2.

I usually prune the thinner branches before it fully goes into flower tbh. But I have been rethinking a lot lately, as we all do.. to better ourselves as growers. I did a bit of pruning on my strawberry nuggets in flower which is a second time for me really. She is quite larfy but I’m certain it’s down to too much nitrogen left in the coco. So I will be switching feeds to lower nitrogen and more pk from now on and hopefully I’ll still see some density. Most plants I grow are dense but this grow has been troublesome with Mephisto genetics. Yes great bag appeal, but some of these shorter strains I bought have been a right pain in the Ass. Any fastbuds I grow often have a nice stretch and not so tight internoding. Yes my fastbuds tester above has been showing vigorous growth for a while so I’m assuming that’s her stretch. It’s hard to keep track of vertical growth when you lst a lot. She was pretty tall to begin with and I let her get a little height before training her again. She would have been much taller by now f I didn’t. I taken off some weaker branches, and pinched a few weaker ones to see if it will fatten them up. If not, not too bothered tbh. I just like to come here and share my experience and knowledge with people, and gain knowledge and experience from others here. Excellent community full of some excellent growers

Here’s my baby now. I fed her sensi grow for a change. Any time I use that it can be easy to get too much nitrogen in there especially incorporating b-52 also. I prefer using sensi bloom from start to finish. However, I’m thinking of trying Remo Nutrients. Their flowering nutrients have like 1% nitrogen so it’s much easier to reduce nitrogen using that, and the price of a full starter kit costs the same price as advanced nutrients base feed and big bud additive.

Here’s my strawberry nuggets with excess nitrogen I suspect. The late transplant stunted her for sure

I have seen some plants where the satellite buds will be huge even if there not getting light. On other plants, I have had buds not worth it. It almost depends on what plant and what pheno.
:yeahthat:

I think the whole "N" thing gets a little controversial. I use FloraFlex and am 100% thrilled with the results since I switched. It has a good amount of N in the Bloom Phase nutes. Only till I taper off in the last 2-3 weeks is there little N. I was always under the impression that the N helps fool the plant into uptaking the other nutes. The N is the stimulant to keep them eating. And the plant needs some N at all stages. That could be totally off base though. But my Nuggets fruits, were hard as stones and shiny AF. Nuggets is a little sensitive in my experience. I got a very nice yield off of her, but it was the first plant I have grown in a very long time that showed any type of deficiency/excess and I have seen others with the same issue.

It's weird with plants, any plants. I was telling my buddy the other day that we could both grow the same tomato breed and have wildly different results. So many variables in environment etc. On one hand it can drive you batty. On the other hand it's pretty cool because we learn to work within our own environments and develop certain habits and styles.

100% spot on brother. I checked her ppms yesterday and they were sitting at 470 ppms which was higher than I was putting in so I know a build up is happening. Nitrogen has many uses in flower and it is essential in ways. But, with my b-52 additive it has an extra 4% nitrogen in there, and my base feed is 4% nitrogen. Her ppms this morning were at 700+. I’m assuming it’s because I haven’t been feeding twice as a day as much because I’ve been really busy. I’ve tried out my FLORAkleen from General Hydroponics. It’s my first time using it. With coco, I don’t need this kinda product as I can push out more salts with more feeds but I thought I’d give it a try for learning purposes. It was created to rid salt build ups. Pretty much used for flushing nearing end of harvest and starting “fresh” again. So I’m gonna let her do her thing and feed her again in 6hrs or so. It’s supposed to be left in the medium for up to 24hrs. But I don’t want to risk too much. Once I feed her again I’ll check the run off ppms, if all is good I’ll reduce nitrogen (b-52 product), and increase P and K with higher amounts of big bud.

With your strawberry nuggets I think you got the other pheno which gets quite big. The majority of the phenos are short and dense. I got the short phenos and I hear it is quite hard to get lucky with the bigger phenos. My purple nuggets is small but her buds are like rocks.
