Recurrent Selection

If I cross an auto with a photo and at the same time breed a different auto to a different photo, would a cross of these two crosses still express the auto gene in 1/4 of the next generation? That is what I was going to do. Since both of the first crosses carry a resesive gene for auto flowering, wound'nt that be expressed in the next gen.. Or again would all dom. genes lead as in a f1?This would combine 4 strains in 2 generations. If at this point I had another group that I had to that point, a cross would involve 8 strains.I call this my shotgun aprouch to a new strain. Then I was going to go thru 5 gens. using natural selection, whatever did not grow well outside did not continue in the program, and human selection to sort out the best of the best.I felt the more genetic potental I started with the greater the varibility in my later choices. If that cross makes another f1 then I will wait until I have made full autos from both then combine them.

That's an interesting approach to breeding. I'm thinking that the best way to do this is, after your first breed try to just use autos that came from the first cross(f1) and recross them with other autos from the other set of parents. You might have to grow a bunch of plants from each set of parents to get the best selection of autos. So basically just try to stabilize the auto gene as early as possible and go from there.

Darn that sucks you have to have all Auto's i would want to make a Auto Permafrost if i could.

Trainwreak x White Widow = Permafrost

I know there are a few White Widow Auto's but there is no Auto Trainwreak. Someone get on the ball ^_^.

Great info thanks for posting.

Yes, both of the F1’s would have the recessive auto genes.

Double-Hybrids = F1 x F1
Or
Brother/Sister = F1 x F1

¼ in the F2’s with both kinds of crosses.

Thanks everyone. I will continue as I planed. I am making a trainwreck auto.

That's great! That's one ingredient to a potion. Loved the Permafrost so much had to get some more ^_^.

Keep me posted on one. Do you have a SB? (text deleted) Kick it around... MMM Auto Permafrost... just sounds good. :D

I learned by growing hemp and thai. It's a great way to practice and refine your techniques as hemp and thai have big gene pools and huge amounts of genetic diversity.

This is some of the best info I have found here! Since reading this I have made some changes to my breeding program. Right now I have 12 different photos(highest t.h.c. s) I was going to breed to 4 different autos. I will still do this but at this time I have 15 other different photos at the stage were I just harvested the termial buds leaving the multitude of smaller and lower ones alone. I am now going to pollenate them also so as to increase my base breeding stock. This will give me more than 20 different photo strains,o.g.s,hazes,skunks,pure sativas, pure kushes , three different chem dogs and others, crossed with 4 differet autos. These autos are themselves crosses of two different auto strains. So I now will have more crosses than I can count.I will spend next year tring to pull autos from the photo crosses although I will cross two of those together in the f1 generation. My goal is to have at least 8 strains recombined into one auto strain then start sorting phenotypes.I hope I understand this right.

I forgot to say I will be running these full autos generations through a naterual selection seive also.To make the breeding prorgam they MUST germatate in the feild and thrive!I lost over $1500 dollars this year planting auto seeds in the patch as I did my photos.I didn't know I had one of stich's seeds, santa. it was so stunted I did not breed it. Looking at my records, 3 of 5 big band seeds did great in this situation.1 of 10 pandoras, 0 of 5 syrups, 0 of 5 n.l. auto and two many others. The seed comanies gave outdoor harvest weights, more than indoor, yet did not say they needed to be inside for two weeks. I did not learn that until I found this site. You saved me!For me grougs A,B and C this year were bad simply because I did not know what was wrong. Group D is my auto group and groups E and F are doing well. They were started inside to make the best possibale seed run. After I have at least 8 strains in one they must germ. outside. This is a versin of this recurrent plan and will yeild tru outside autos I hope.
