Google Black Orchid Centrifugal Inline Extractor. It's a good fan, quiet and built by the Germans!

Do you need an exhaust/input-type fan, with it pushing/pulling air through a venting/tubing, or a fan for room circulation, or a loft (attic?) exhaust fan?.

Inline fan this will be the one for extraction have the intake sorted

Yes. I have one. It is excellent and it is quiet. Just gives off a hum which isn't loud at all.

Perhaps, check out the Can-Fan Max Fan Pro product line. I have a Can-Fan Max Fan Pro, 6 in, 420 CFM. It's well designed and constructed, is Can-Fan's (biggest fan co.?) top-of-the-line, has 3 speeds (I run on medium), is a relatively new model, is quiet (particularly with a muffler/exhaust and filter hooked up), and is available at good discount cheaper than competing fans which make a lot of noise about being quite, but the fans often aren't all that quiet if you check the specs and reviews.

The Soler&Palau TD-Silent series ar nice. I run a TD-100X in my closet. Had a low pitched vibration when I installed it, but I'm haning on plaster over drywall using anchors so couldn't crank the mounting down too tight. Stuck a foam mouse pad between it and the ceiling to deaden vibration and now all I hear is the air wooshing out the vent from outside the closet. Little hum inside the closet, but added the carbon filter recently and that got rid of most of that.
