Grow Room Questions about the Inner Working of a device !

The cloud also lets you access info about your grow room from your phone, when you're out of town, when you're at work, etc.

As far as for illegal growers, I think a bigger risk for them is having an issue in their grow room while they are away. A fire or flood in their grow is a much more serious problem than for a grower in a legal state.

Now that is something I have not thought about, but that's a great insight. Thanks!

I love your american way of twisting the message from one topic to another

NO floods are not an issue here .. and fire well ... im not an arsonist ... Internet and IoT security is !

lets maybe move this to tread to somewhere diy ... so i don't come off like a kook vs @getpulse.co

I like the general idea !! :worship:

You are not a kook by any stretch!.
I am into the IOT thing big time, but also my security. My IOT is on a separate subnet, and VLAN,no way through to my personal stuff. But that's just me.

That's still way too complex for the average user ....

imo nothing much more that having to forward a router port, can be imposed on the none tech savy...

that's why i would advocate sensors don't have any reason for being IoT ... sensor tech gets better all the time ...
with a central home server/device u only have to worry about security from one angle ;) and are able to produce new sensors more rapidly :vibe:

Oh yes I totally agree. Multi port routers, layer 2 switching, multiple SSIDs, not for the average person. Was my way of saying you’re not a kook, or as much of a one as myself.
It is an unfortunate series of events or whatever you want to describe it that has brought us to this point. The tech is too complex for the majority so it is made simple. Making it simple or just being careless creates the security issues we have. But the stuff has to be simple enough for folks to use. This means it gets connected and ends up on your network in whatever way the manufacturer coded it and ..; well that’s how this all started.

I have a cisco router facing the outside, and a consumer wifi router ... safely behind that ;)

we are not paranoid are we ? :chimp:

I’m old enough to have lived through tricky Dick and recall the phrase from Catch 22, Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they aren’t after you.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply anything like that! We're definitely on the same page about security being very important. I just meant to say that sometimes there are accidents in grows. Just search the news for "grow house fire" and you'll get more than you wanna see.
