Morning peeps. I am up sizing my 2x4 to 4x4, and need to decide how important access from two sides is for taking care of the girls in there. Plants will be in ~10 gallon fabric pots, so a bit on the heavy side for moving around. The issue is the ease of getting at the plants in the rear of the growdrobe if there is a door only on one side.

If I install doors in two opposite sides, the structure will require different bracing to keep things aligned, doors on one side would be easier and stronger.

Thoughts anyone?

I would just move the plants around you will only need to move them when in flower because you can just lean into the tent but when they are flowering you don't want to get the buds wet or rub resin off them you could put plant rollers under them so you could move them. I've had the same problem but in smaller pots.

You will be happy with your single-door decision, until you have that one thing that really needs two doors.
Methinks the two door option is looking better and better.

I'm halfway through my first grow - 4 plants in a 2'x'4'. Pots are only ~10lbs, and I've been taking them out of the tent to work on them so far. But, between those and 20-lb water jugs, my back's a bit sore after an hr or so of working with them each day.

Granted, I'm probably doing more lifting than I need to, and sure - I could work smarter - but tents aren't really that ergonomic. It's not like you can lift with your legs or get in and walk around the plants - you're always bending over somehow, have a light or a cord in the way, etc. If I had to reach an extra 2-ft into the tent, I'm sure it'd be even worse...

I'm too young to be this old...

Two doors is getting closer. I am working on the mods now, trying to get most of them done with scrap I have hanging around. Would you believe $91 Cdn for a sheet of 3/4" plywood? With a bit of fuss, it looks like one sheet will finish things off. That and some paint and hinges, etc. I put the whole thing on casters so I can move it around, like most heavy things in my shop.

As to getting old, as the saying goes, it ain't for sissies, but the alternative sucks. :pighug:

I bought a jeweler's loupe to look at trichomes...

I use it to read the ingredient labels on my nutrient bottles...
What, you read labels? Maybe that's my problem.

My 8x4 vivosun has front and back doors, but I obviously had to put it against a wall. So I cannot access the back. When it’s loaded, it is hell to get to the back. When I decided to get a smaller tent to grow in the house during summer, I bought a cheaper 4x2 that had one of those single wraparound doors. Was a bit better. But a flimsy tent I didn’t have much faith in.

I finally got a Gorilla 4x2 and it has double front doors that open all the way around and I can access everything if need be. I’m planning to replace the 8x4 in the shop with a Gorilla 4x4 now since I now have a tent inside. And after experiencing the luxurious access with the gorilla, I can’t live without it.

Not exactly apples to apples, but my vote is for the most access points you can have.
