Got 3 nirvana NLs on day 41 (from seed) currently on 18/6 lighting. Gonna hafta flip to 12/12 as I need to get these done by 18 December, and although they're flowering, there are no pistils yet. Once I've changed over and (hopefully) pistils show, should I flip back to 18/6?

Any advice gratefully received.

:peace::confused:

I have a seedsman northern lights that took weeks longer to flower than my other two. Significant budding didn't start till week 7 or 8 (check my journal if you want to compare). I think once you switch a light regime you have to stick with it flip-flopping may cause stress, which can lead to hermies. I'd just keep it on 18/6 if its flowering. I'm on my first grow, but this strain is unstable from what I've read, maybe they just mature slow.

im sorry :confused:
how can they be flowering but not showing pistols?

I agree, I thought pistals were the flowers...????I keep reading a lot of comments on nirvana NL not auto-ing...surely I did not get the only nirvana NL autos...3 times in a row....mine were slow to sex but all sexed & autoed under 24/0 for 4-5 weeks.....
BUT......yeah, switch to 12/12...keep it there....to avoid possible stressing/hermy issues...I grow all my autos under 12/12 during summer months....sorry ya have a growing limit....that in itself can be a stressful way to grow....ya gotta give the ladies a bit of time.....

Cheers. Yeah, good question re: flowering. From what I've read I thought the description of preflowering is where they're at - let me know if I'm wrong. The leaves have moved away from the stem and opened up, and lots of small branches started growing - but no pistils yet. After I posted yesterday I looked up reviews posted by other nirvana nl auto growers. Seems like a lot had the same problem - almost all said they had to flip to 12/12. I flipped over last night and will stick with that.

Just a bit confused about it all - my first grow and picked this strain as I though it was one of the easiest.

Man, sorry the NL ain't doing right for ya....yeah, there were a lot of NL autos from Nirvana that didn't auto last year but they believe they've corrected it....guess I was just a lucky one....I have one finishing in a couple of weeks....if I were you, I'd def go to 12/12 and force flowering....also you can grow and finish under 12/12...I do it all summer because of heat (lights on at night)....does fine....at 41 days, bet ya got a bush by now!.....

Yeah, thanks Automan. Maybe it's me and I've done something wrong...???? This is my first grow. I know I had PH issues earlier, which you and others helped me with. Think I'll do what Savoy did and get Seedsman NLs next time. Just reading others' experiences with all Nirvana autos did not fill me with hope for buying their seeds next time.

You're right - I got some bushes alright, LOL!! I switched to 12/12 on Thursday. No pistils yet. Also worried that they won't finish by the time I go to family for Chrismas on 20th Dec.

Anyone tried growing Afghan Kush Ryder or Mi5. Thinking about doing 2 of each next time. These have good reviews too.

Good news: 2 plants have just started growing pistils for sure. Pretty certain I saw a small pistil on the 3rd!!!! :jump:

Now if I can just get these ladies done in the next 6 weeks - early harvest is better than no harvest!!! ;)

Thanks to all who helped me out on this one!! :smokebuds:
