Indoor Question about Onyx germination/sprouting

I recently started germinating 8 Onyx directly in rockwool (I've tried the paper towel to dirt method and hosed 5 red dwarf, 2 vanilla kush, and a blue widow seed.. so I read and found most people are using rockwool and some using vermiculite.. so I used some bag seed and tried 5 seeds of both.. all 5 in rockwool germinated and spouted within 2 days so I feel comfortable with this method) Anyhow they're on their 4th day (to the hour lol) and only 1 has popped it's head out and it's HUGE (1/2 inche starter leaves). This is normal for this strain?

Also I'd just like to give props to dope-seeds.com. I ordered from them and they shipped on Friday the 17th and I received my order on Thursday the 23rd. Very fast for UK -> west coast US (Whole order were Short Stuff)

I also got some auto assassin, snowryder and Russian rocket fuel. Any recommendations on nutes and plant spacing? (this is my 2rd brow so I'm totally a noob :)) Anyone tried to scrog these ladies?

Thanks in advance,
Foo

im personally growing them in 2gallon smart pots but would suggest 3gallon. i use 2 gallon for space issues and uniform canopy amongst different strains. dont give up on the paper towel method as i have great success with it.

For AA, Snowryder and RRF I'd recommend 3 gallon pots, but you could probably use 2 gallon on the Snowryders. In my experience they don't get as big as the AA and RRF. Figure about 1 sq. ft. per plant, although there are some bush phenos hiding in there and if you do get one, it will require a little more space. Lots of nute schedules listed here but in general feed veg nutes through week 5, then switch to flowering. AA and RRF may benefit from an extra week of veg nutes. Starting around week 3 or 4 you should see rapid growth during preflower, as much as an inch a day. I keep feeding veg nutes until that growth slows, which on AA and RRF is usually week 6. As to what brand, both Advanced Nutrients and General Hydro are both good. I've also gotten excellent results from Better-Gro Orchid nutes.

Very good info! I just bought a 5'x5'x7' tent for my new autoflower home and since I'm allowed to grow 12 plants I'm thinking this should be plenty of room for plants and work space. I'm going to guess the pic of the RRF that looks like a small cherry tree is the bushy phenom.

I'm actually thinking of creating a grow database. So many grows and so many strains yet it's hard to find information of how they actually grow and pictures without scale are hard to depict.

For pots I was actually thinking of using felt bags. One of our local grocery stores sells them for $1 and they're 10" x 10" x 12". I'm assuming this is pretty close to 3 gallon pots.

Any thoughts?

I currently have some onyx going....soaked 4 seeds in shotglass 24-36 hours, planted in jiffy pods..on a heat mat.....all four sprouted in couple of days 1 male 3 fems. Now bout a month old and showing good bud formations.2 plants are just alike, about 14" tall and kinda bushy, 1 stetched to about 21" with bud structure stretched all along it stalk...also have some world of seeds autos going that look good too...
I just finished 3 aa and curing now...got about an ounce per...got 2 oz off a budda syrup....all these were/are grown in 4 inch pot, 2 ltr...yes SMALL....feed every watering with appropriate biobizz line of nutes....grown under 400w hps in a small tent...this method works well for me...

Sounds awesome bro. If I get anywhere near what you yield, I'll be happy. I've read that if you keep the PH of the soil between 5.8-6.5, use h202 and keep very tight control on the nutes you can get decent yields with smaller pots.

My issue with germination was heat. Not enough of it. I went to soaking in a peroxide/mineral water mix in 1oz cups covered with a large bowl and placed ontop of a media server i have in my home theater. I'm getting tails in 12 hours now. I lost 3 onyx seeds :( Decided to replace them with snowryders since I have 15 of those and they're all freebies. 5/5 germinated and sprouting in rockwool.

When I get the tent setup I'll take some pics. I'm planning on using a 5band 230w UFO LED (3w chips), 2 crappy 45w 3 band LED (1w chips), and 12 26w 6400k CFL's changing out 8 CFL's to 4 68w 2600k bulbs come ~week 5.

I have all these lights already.. otherwise i'd prob go with larger CFL's (200w).

Those should be a good size. They sound similar to Smart Pots, the kind that allow air to get to the roots and self prune the roots. Set them on something like a couple pieces of 2" x 2" wood, to allow air circulation under the pots as well. That will encourage the bottom roots to get air pruned as well.

h202 kills benifishal bacteria. i dont see any benifit from using h202 and the time i saw someone use it in all his grows they were tiny and stunted so i wont ever be using it. just get a air stone and lil fish tank air pump and oxygenate your water

H202 is no bueno for soil grows, at all. It's useable in hydro grows where you're going to control every nutritional element. Even then I'd recommend using tap-water you let sit and aerate as noted by DR.AF.

Yea that's what popped in my mind when I saw the bags. Good idea on propping them up. Didn't think about that.

Thanks for the warning guys! I've got a shower in my grow room with a tap water tub w/ a stone and pump running 24/7. At this stage the only H2O2 I've used was a tiny bit in my seed soak and soaking the rockwool. 10ml per pint w/ 3%
