Ok, what would be the smallest grow light I could use to try a stealth grow?

I don't wanna jack my electric bill up too much and if I can get a plant or three going that would get me through until next season if my outdoor grow fails.

And you say that 18/6 is a good way to do it?

I would need a fan to circulate the air and I could line the area with aluminum foil.

I can't get too high tech, just the minimum that would work.

Personally I would get a 150 or 200 watt CFL and fixture. Not only does it save a lot on electric bills but it is also much less likely to cause a fire in an enclosed space. I have grown 2 LST Photosensitive plants under a 125 watt CFL setup and gotten good results. Just remember in these small spaces that overhead light alone does not penetrate very well so you should line your whole box/closet with reflective Mylar and/or add some vertical lighting(maybe some cheap T5 tubes mounted vertically) to get the sides and lower branches.

So all that said if you keep your plants small, the smallest light I would get for three plants would be the 125 watt, although for only a bit more cash might as well go with a 150 for top down lighting. Also don't forget to get the right frequency (cool for veg and warm for flowering) Don't know if you're doing autos or not but the LST plants I did in these conditions were photos... With autos there is really no need to use the cool spectrum bulbs as the plant will be going into flower so quickly...

The setup below is what I use for up to six autos and is overkill with the light for sure, I went with 2x 125 watt and 1x 200 in the middle

Hope that helps! Grow proud! :toke:

if you want to keep heat down as well and sacrifice some yield cfl is the ticket. If you need as much yield as possible out of 1-3 plants then a 150-250 hps is what you need. If you have the money leds from what I see may be the best investment for stealth purposes. It all depends on what your requirements are really. There are several grow guides on the site that should help you decide. Good luck with whatever you choose.

get a small 100w-150w led unit.... or if your space is decent the 240w models are out of this world for not a huge price.
