could you suggest something more suitable please? I really need something fairly forgiving for a newcomer. The seeds that I have already will not go to waste.

just get them in mate good to test the room but a shorter ak cross would be a good call maybe the AA if its not to large I think mi5 will be to large but open this up to others
lr2 is listed at 17-19" to me seems a bit generous to want to get to yor 24" limit as pos

Good stuff. Im a few weeks off yet. I want to finish my cupboard grow first but you have helped loads.

Thanks again.

Hey snooch...some good suggestions and info coming at ya from previous posters...good luck on your setup...personally, I use 4" pots...approx one and a half litre of soil....have been for quite some time .......under 400w hps....I will advise ya, LR2 can grow quite tall although mostly is within 12"-16"....and LR2 will spoil ya cuz its a fairly reliable and sturdy auto to grow....just plant and don't overwater....with patience, she will reward ya......I just had 2 short riders and 2 northern light autos grow to 38-45" in one of my small pots!
LR2 has been around quite a while and is a good strain....while YES, there's much better in potency but grown and harvested properly, LR2 will be an enjoyable smoke...keep us posted

Hey automan.

Roughly what are you pulling in from those? I am currently using tiny 1l pots they are about 4" tall and my plants are about 12" tall with 3 weeks to go. I'm quite happy with them but the individual yield is quite low.

The highest I have ever pulled in is about 11g of a single plant. It was in a 6l pot and it was my first attempt. Hardly worth the 9 week wait though... That I why I have tried 5x 1l pots as an experiment. I'm guessing I should pull in a bit more. I'm hoping for around an ounce this time but that may be optimistic.

I would like to try and grow 4 to 6 slightly larger plants that could yield around an oz each. Like 3-6 oz per grow. That would be very worthwhile for me.

As for the smoke, I like the smell and taste of lowryder, it's better than the green we get around my way and that Is going for around £300 an oz! (like $470) Plus I don't have to deal with clowns.

I need to work something out or I will have to try something different. I really want to stick with the autos though. Sorry for rambling but I try to get as much info over as possible.

I have only been at this since February and I'm still finding my feet.

depending on light lr2 could yield up to 1-2oz a plant in a 4-6l well within your goals and the ak's up 2-3oz but 5-8l pots
I had a short ryder it was a small plant but the elite smokers in my group could not tell it was an auto

Snooch...guess I need to clarify some of my comments...I don't grow for yeild as I only grow for myself...I use 12/12 under 400w hps so I can keep a photo alongside...I usually keep 4-7 plants in the flower tent...the same in the veg area under T5 24/0.....several strains at a time typically......just keep rotating....I've had a ounce off an auto under my conditions and I've had a lot less....quality bud is my primary objective...........huge supply of seeds in frig awaiting their turn........ goal is to keep my GF and I happy with variety......As agito stated, yeild is going to be determined by health of plant which is gonna be determined by how you care for her and feed her...give her plenty of energy to draw from....
When I had a remote, larger grow area, under 1000 w hps....I had some big badass colas from the LR2....over an oz several times....they really don't take much attention...aamof, they seem to thrive when ya ignore'em days at a time !! The largest pot I've ever grown in was a gal pot.....recently vegged two NL-A & Short ryders...one of each in gallon, the other in 4"....they are now flowering well with the 4"inchers taller and buds almost identical....was forced to lst the crap outta'em to fit the tent space....

Having grown bonzai trees for a few decades...I'm comfortable with how I do my ladies of the herb...A friend in our local 'collective' is a cloner of photos, adopted my 4" pots and pulling some nice bud ......I'm the only auto grower in our group but all are now getting into autos as they usually put their nuggs up when I show up with some of my autos!

Thank you for the in depth answer. I too only grow for myself and my brother. I would never grow for monetary gain. Also, I appreciate that it is quite vulgar to talk numbers like that without noting all factors.

I was kind of just trying to get some good building blocks to see if I would be stopping my plants from reaching a good portion of their potential. All I can do is try my best and see where I end up I guess

Also I really do not have anyone else to ask about this kind of stuff as I live in quite a remote location. To my knowlege, none of my friends grow so I have always thought it best to keep my mouth shut.

Whatever happens I will post and let you all know how I get on.

I grew one of the La Divas in a 6.5L pot and its' yield was half of the Green-o-matic which was grown in a 4L pot. Same conditions, same grow infact so my basic conclusion was that most of it depends on the genetics rather than the pot size. Considering that the majority of the root system is developed in the bottom of the pot I wonder if it would be beneficial to create a pot which is tall and expands in diameter towards the bottom?

AutoMan, do you notice a difference in frostyness or yield on the autos when run with a 12/12 schedule? Or do they take longer to finish?
