Extraction Pop22 Tests The Dabpress dp-rp37

The Yocan Evolve Plus is a good cheap all around wax pen. Just the regular one, not that XL. Might want to look at a bubbler rig too with an enail or torch. That's next on my shopping list. I'd like to have some water filtering to cool the vape down so I think a rig is the way to go for me.

Are you prepressing the flower in a form at all before pressing it?

And if you're keeping the test unit and going to do a lot of pressing you might want to get some of those dental tools you can get for cheap at auto parts stores. I think they use them for body work on cars. They work great at lifting rosin off the parchment and other things like that. And cheap as chips. I got a set of 5 different dental tools for under $10. Now if I run out of dental insurance I can do my own work and I even have some good meds to help with the pain :)

Thanks for the info! No I didn't pre-press. Also, if I pre-press, can I stack buds, squish a couple layers? How long should I press? I may make a puck press I see them getting a lot more resin that way.

This is what I use for a prepress form. Cost $85 at newvape.
I don't use bags. I just load up the form with buds that i've broken up a bit, removed stems etc. You can stack them for sure. I load up the body of that form with 4 grams of flower that I just jam in there and try to even out out a bit. Then put the cover on and then squeeze it with one of those cheap hand clamps to compress it in to a puck that won't fall apart on you when you pick it up. It comes out looking like the shape of a mcdonalds hash brown. That puck will give you a more uniform squish and PSI and it will be easier to scrape off the rosin from the paper. Then I put the puck in the parchment paper and put it on the press. I'll put some light pressure on the puck in the press to kind of warm it up before full pressure is applied. I preheat it for about 15 seconds. Then I slowly apply pressure up to about 1600 PSI and depending on the temp, how buttery or sticky the rosin is etc, I time the press. I prefer slow and low for better tasting rosin but less yield. So far on average I press at 190F for about 2 minutes and get a nice easy to handle material from that. Then I chill all my parchment paper in the fridge for a while before I scrape it off the paper. I aim to have a buttery rosin. If its not hot enough or enough pressure I find it makes more of a shatter material which is not had but it can shatter on you when you pull it off the paper. If its too hot or too much pressure or duration the rosin is like syrup and its hard to handle. Just right is somewhere in between for my preference.
