Hey im needing a little help understanding a few things. I'm wanting to take a mandalorian genetics anvil (male) since he's got regular auto seeds. Then I'm wanting to use the pollen with a female G14 to make some seeds. The Anvil is an F6.

How much variance in phenotypes is there at this level? Is it worth sorting through males for " a best pheno" at this stage?

Now, further ahead, after I've made my first set of seeds being these are both autos. How many of these seeds will be the actual hybrid cross of the 2 parents ratio wise? Now, let's say I want to take it a step further into the cross itself. How do you go about finding which male plant would be the cross? Do you have to grow it completely out to know? How about the female? Wouldnt it be kinda late in flower to know if it needs pollinated or not? Essentially I'd like to make a stable cross between the 2. This is just for personal use so I'd prolly grow small plants in a small tent doing this. Dont care if it takes some time to do it. Thanks for the help.

I'd also like to know when is the best time to pollinate the ladies and how do you know when the seeds have matured?

Well first things first, collect pollen from all males or from your special guess, store it dry and dark and label it is the right way. You can store it and do what you want with it later. Second, the selection of the male is easy cause any seed will have the genetics from the mother and it's your strain and your choice, later on you will know if you made a good or bad choice. You can choose all males cause you don't know how to do it or have trust in the breeders selection cause if he made a good selection earlier on, all males will have some nice genetics in it, maybe traits you can't see anyway so you can take any male. It's all about making a strategy, take notes and stick to plan, later on you will find out if the smoke is nice.
Don't forget you can smoke the males, they can make good smoke but not so much cause they have few flowers. Last step is to chuck the pollen on a healthy pistil, chuck it on them when they are white and fresh and let the seeds grow dark and strong.
I bet you will have success any way you do it if you plant seeds with good genetics.
Expect wide pheno variation in the F2, that is where you can go way out in the forest trying to find the best pheno.

Awesome, thank you. Anvil is purple and f6 and g14 I've grown 8 times now. Not much variation but there is a little there. It's a green strain. If I take the male anvil and cross it with the female g14 will all the seeds that come off it have some type of purple in them? Or will I need to take that a step further or couple more breeding sessions? I'm ok with some pheno variation. Thanks again

The black, red and purple is anti-freeze so if you grow it in the cold all weed will show it but if it will show it in the F1 is a good question, grow it and we will know. Most likely purple is a genetic flaw if it show purple when it's hot cause it's a waste of energy cause it's only good for low temperature. It really doesn't matter cause all you need to know is that a cross has half of this and half of that and then you know that in the F2 you have a certain chance to get the purple pheno so you must grow a certain number of plants to find it by chance. How many plants you need to grow to find it doesn't matter either cause you will grow as many as you can.

This actually may be more fun than i thought it would be. I should have it started within another month. I'll probably journal it all.

It's fun to have your own seeds and too many of them so you can put them in other peoples pots and public parks. If you have access to cold air in the winter you can use it to make purple but it takes some time for it to build it up so start slowly. This one just starting to show it but it was a great pheno, I call it the double bud pheno cause it did top itself at the right time and had an identical bud like this one just next to it. Got me too high cause I harvested it early. It's haze!

Nice! Pretty exciting. I'm wanting to cross this anvil strain (male)

With g14. Here's one I chopped in november.

Hoping it's a good combo. If I can I might end up crossing it with sour crack.

@Boognelson87 , I think the Anvil photo above is from me. There are two plants in that pot. If you want to grow out and select a male, look for the ones with the most colorful and abundant sacs. Full Duplex has very consistent males. Remember that males are faster, but Anvil vegs about a week longer than most Autos so you may want to start them earlier.
If you run and collect pollen ahead of time. Freeze it in seed vials, label them and save to selectively pollinate a branch or two of various strains.
When you take pollen out of the freezer, do not open vial until it has reached room temp, otherwise the condensation /moisture will kill the pollen. Good luck and have fun .

I really like that Anvil, looks like a plant that does it's thing as it's supposed to.
The G14 knows how to take nutrients from the leaves so should be healthy cross.
Grow it safe and easy not too much special treatment so you notice if it's acting funny and can select the healthy ones, or blaze it with nutes and select for that lol!
