New Grower planning a tent

I am in the planning stage of a tent. So far I want a 4 by 2 tent, a 4' 8 bulb t5 ho light with diy remote ballast, a cheap bathroom fan with a diy carbon filter. I am going to use tiered planting with FD's soil mix.
If any sees any problems with this or has recommendations on brands please let me know. I also could use a link to a good diy 4" carbon filter. Thanks in advance for your help.

if your doing t5ho i'd go with the quantum t5ho Bad Boy.they are the best i've seen.make sure that you buy thier bulbs for thier fixture.

hey..i like your idea with the bathroom fan
and DIY carbon filter. i saw a similar setup
bieng used in a grow here and was very
close to getting the fan from e-bay but,
with only 90cfm...i was waiting untill someone
else had 1 up and going before i took the plunge.

when you get going please post some pics and such.

i have been using FD s soil mixture on this grow,also
am using the tiered planting method...it works great!!!
my plants are green and healthy,vibrant and very stinky.

i love the idea of a 8 bulb 4 foot ho light fixture,
that will put light on every inch of grow space...
however i would bin those crappy yo-yo hangers
and use chain and s hooks...i know from experience
that those plastic yo-yo hangers fail and cause your
light to come crashing down on your tender young plants

Thanks for the warning rsv I was planning on using jack chain and s hooks, have them at work. Might go with the bad boys if I can fit them in the budget.

If I could get half the results Jackal does with them I wouldn't know how to act. Do they make a ph meter that Works on soil and water?

i found a 8 bulb bad boy with argomax bulbs for 218 with free shipping. i think i will do that until a have a extra 100 for bulbs. i might try the bathroom fan with remote ballast and if it can't handle it add a second 1 on a thermostat. it sux being on a budget

Thanks for the kind words guys, but yeah I don't think you'll go wrong with the Bad Boys, a product that truly lives up to it's name. Deff pick up the Quantum tubes when you get the dough. I believe they are one of the reasons that makes them so bad ass. Also to answer your other question about pH meters. I'm not aware of any that works on both. It's best to have a pH pen like Hanna for water/nutes and if growing in soil/soiless you should pick up a Control Wizard Acurrate 8 soil meter.
