PH tester

I like to be able to get replacement probes @ a reasonable price. Apera does this.

The HM Ph-200 as well. I believe that the replacement probe is around $30 maybe cheaper directly through them. At the end of the day I think they're all pretty comparable within their $$ range. I just got the HM PH probe because I had the "matching" TDS meter, and that kicks ass too. Soo....

I’d really have liked to have purchased the meter that did TDS as well, but the probes are double the money. I couldn’t justify the cost since I do the organic soil thing.

To be honest, I really only check my PPM/EC when I change the dosing of the nutes. After that I pretty much know where I'm at, so I don't check it as much. PH meter gets used way more, so I never really looked at an all in one in case it did shit the bed like you mentioned. IMHO/YMMV/ etc. etc/ all of that.

But I did buy a "cheap" TDS meter once. Anytime the PPM was over 300 it would read 1000+. And couldn't be calibrated. Took me buying some TDS calibration fluid to figure that one out. Up until then I was scratching my head. So I was underfeeding my plants for awhile.

I have a Bluelab and a Apera with non-replaceable probe it is cheaper, basically the price of a replacement probe. I like the Apera better due to the large reservoir for holding the solution. It is small on the bluelab so if you take a break from using it it will dry out.
