Once again my research has just made it worse lol nothing but mixed results. I need to lower my soil PH about 1 full point. Some say use home remedies such as vinegar, while others say no that will harm the plant. Other say to use a syhtetic 'ph down' solution, other say that bad. Is there an organic ph down product out there???

I need to some advice here quick, thanks guys!

i've never heard that home remedies such as vinager and lime juice are bad, just that they don't keep the ph stable for long periods of time, meaning you have to keep adding it in, checking your ph, adding some more in later..

Earth Juice puts out both ph up and down and are 100% organic. they both come in powder form but are completely water soluble... be careful though, with the ph down all you need is a tiny bit! ph up you have to use a lot more. they have lasted longer for me than any home remedies. hope this helps

Thanks for the heads up on the Earth Juice, spels. Do you order it online or get it from your hydro dude?

I jsut checked a local hydro shop and they carry the earth juice line. I plan to pick some up tomorrow and give it a whirl. How much ph down are you mixing per galllon?

It all depends on your water, but I'd start with about 1/8 teaspoon (.6 mL) per gallon and keep testing from there. That's the increment that I use and sometimes even that's too much. Like spels says, it's strong stuff but it will last you a long time. I've thought about mixing it with distilled water to make my own pH up/down drops, but I've come to like working with the granules.

Gonna have to get me some of the organic stuff instead of the GH stuff I use now. Cool. I wanna be organic all the way.

As I understand it Citric acid is the best (and cheapest) organic ph down on the planet because of its effects on cation exchange (attracting ions in the fertilizer and bonding them), its massive benefits to biological life and it's a food that plants love. So far I've never come across a single organic ph down that isn't a citric acid solution at about 40%.. but I'm struggling to find out whether that Earth Juice is citric or somethiing else. I currently make my own with C.A. crystals and pure water and I'm pretty happy with it. I can make enough for about 6 months worth of heavy use from 1kg of crystals for about 7 clams.

It also acts as a water softener and you can easily watch your base EC drop by 30% just by adding citric acid to the water, which helps those of us in hardwater areas get more nutes into the water, rather than potassium/phosporic acids adding to the EC.

Well worth looking into.

:peace:

What is C.A. crystals?

I bought a bottle of battery acid from the local car parts store and mix is with staight water. It's sulfuric acid and diluted is the very same solution sold as fish aquarium pH down. I think I use 500ml/25ml ratio - makes this stuff last years.

dolomite lime

edited to add sorry you wanna go the other way,so ammonia, urea
