hey guys, seem to have a lot of these flying around my terrace, and in the house near to the terrace. They only appear at night and are attracted to light. They are tiny, like a midge in size or even smaller. When squished they leave a red mark. I took this photo with my macro lens.
Any idea what they are and if I should be wooried ???
Cheers guys

Never seen that one specifically before, maybe it's a type of red flying ant? Are there any on any plants or are they just swarming the lights?

Just swarming the lights at the moment. The photo I took isn't great, I'll see if I can get a better one. I was thinking maybe some sort of mayfly?

haha, they are harmless, i know, i have tons of them all over the terrace. Annoying little bastards but harmless for both man and plants. They appear when the heat and the sun are at their peaks and dissappear in the winter

Hey, only just seen this reply. I moved house last year and it was the first time that I had ever seen them. I know they don't bite humans etc, I was just curious if they were going to like the resin on my buds and potentially get stuck in them. I tried to identify them online and thought it was some sort of mayfly, it said they like to live near lakes/ponds etc but there is nothing like that around here, oh well never mind I'm happy they are harmless ! Thanks everyone
