I have 3 WW autos outdoors that according to trichomes are about a week to 10 days from harvest. I didn't have room at my home so I partnered with a buddy who is caring for them after which we can split the yield.

I don't go real often to his farm, but yesterday I noted thrip damage on most of the leaves. I mentioned this to him and he said he'd take care of spraying them. Not thinking much more about it, I assumed he'd use Neem oil or something similar, but he said he used a farm chemical called Orthene. His son is a large commercial farmer, so he snagged some of the chemical he uses for row crops.

Too late - done deal - now our plants (buds and all) and covered with some chemical I don't want on the plants but nothing I can do now. Maybe I can ask him to rinse the plants off a couple of times before we harvest, but I still don't like what just happened.

Any advice? Is our crop going to be salvageable?

:nono:

Orthene is made to be used on non consumables only and is designed to be absorbed so rinsing will do nothing.

Personally, I would destroy them.

I would also stay away from his son's row crops if he doesn't know that Orthene should not be used even in proximity to food crops.

Yeah, unfortunately I'm also of the opinion these plants shouldn't be used at this point. I think his son probably uses the chemical on cotton which is an entirely different use than what we want for smoking/inhaling.

Ahhhh.... cotton is a different story.

Around here row crops generally refers to food crops.

Personally I would go so far as actually destroying them so no one else uses them either.

:pass:

Personally oversee the destruction. You want to know that some foolish unsuspecting kid didn't get their hands on it.

Then smack your buddy.

I sure will! I have another group of photo plants at his farm as well, and you can bet I'll oversee any pest applications on those plants. I like Spinosad or a mix of Neem Oil with a squirt of castile soap as an emulsifier. The WW autos that will bite the dust are not a huge big deal (making myself feel better), but the Blue Dream photos that are coming along nicely - now that would be a heart breaker.
