So what signs do your plants give you that your light or lights are at a optimal height above your plants? Ive heard of praying leaves. Any pics would be appreciated.

From what I was told you want like 30"-36" away or more in veg and around 24" in flower. But what I did was take a solid white piece of paper and hold it up by the lights. The bring it down till all the colors blend together and that's where the top of the canopy should be. But that's just my $0.02! Hope that helps a little. But the light is pretty intense too, so if you're talking like the 600w kind of led, I'd assume they'd probably have to be a little higher up than say a 100w? Sorry didn't meant to cause more questions and confusion haha.

That's actually a great idea Coffee! I'm going to try that tomorrow. I've got 2 Mars-hydro 96x5's at 28-30 inches and the only thing I can figure is light stress. Using the paper seems to make sense.

:slap: Rep slap for ya!

I hit up the guys at Advanced LED, as soon as I can get a reply I'll give you a better answer hopefully.

Tom, you can start them under a 600w I would believe. But if your LED has a dimmer switch or dial, I'd totally take advantage of it lol. Otherwise in my opinion, I'd have it like 4' off the top of the seedling. I've got two 100w Advanced Diamond series led's and I was told to have it on like 20% for the first week and then start turning it up to full power after a couple weeks. Personally I like to get them going with cfl's or something just to ease them into the intensity of the other lights and to get itself established in the new soil etc. But I'll post my findings fo you guys when they reply. I'm still learning myself but I'll help as much as I can!

@Itisi @Vlad The Inhaler

I just added my new lights at about a little over a foot and kept raising until the plants stopped showing small whitish spots after a few hours of exposure. It took me a few days to get there. You should also place your hand on top of the highest spot on the plant and leave it there for a minute or so. If your hand gets hot, it's too hot for the plant. ;)
