And that is an oral dose! It is very easy to drop some on some weed or cigarette and let the alcohol evaporate, leaving you with opium infused weed or tobacco. This is more a potent way to consume it! I would start out at a quarter of what it would take to orally give effects...

As far as medicating someone else, use extreme caution! Be in tune to exactly what they are feeling and how the raw opiates are affecting them. There is a big difference between oxycodone, (percocet, oxycontin) and raw opiates which include but are not limited to codeine, morpheine, thebane, noscapine, and papaverine. There are more than this in the raw form. That is a lot of different opiates all at once and some are stronger than others or may have an adverse effect on the user should there be any specific allergies to 1 or more of these alkaloids.

Know also that the side effects of eaten or smoked raw opium or poppy straw are much more severe ie. constipation, difficulty breathing, and severe nausea etc. There is a reason opium smokers lie down when they use and it's not because they get tired so quickly but rather the nausea associated with taking a big hit of good stuff. (head spins like you're drunk)

So if you chose to dose your parents know the risks, especially with the elderly.

Figured I'd also mention that if you plan on growing them get a good variety, there are at least a hundred varieties of papaver somniferum and all produce opium.

If you have a good variety of flowers including flowers other than poppies the risk of getting caught is much smaller not to mention if you do get caught you can claim to just love pretty flowers.

Above all if you plan to grow these flowers to never let anyone see slit pods oozing sap.

I think as far as smell goes it may smell good like potpourri,Theres a thread where a guy grows them indoors in DWC and the photo period goes backward it grows in 12/12 and flowers in 24/0...
He also says that he never has to change the res water, Its pretty hard to kill them with nutes but the soil plants don't like a lot of water the guy says that he lets them get dry before getting it moist again also they like ph around 7.0-7.5

I officially have about 1000 little poppies!
I remembered that my grandmother had a jar of poppy seeds put up in the house that she left me after passing so I went and got them and tilled a little garden like the guy in the thread I posted links to...
