Yuppers! Very easy to do, poppies are resilient and can be grown almost anywhere with a lot of sun....

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one one has been harvesting this week. I really should have thinned mine out more earlier this year, mine are so, so tiny. Oh well, had fun growing em. I never expect too much from them

Not to be rude Mr Piggy, just trying to be helpful, but I put together a huge amount of info on this thread including lots on how and when to harvest... A full scan of this thread will pretty much answer most of the questions I have ever thought of including others... I have been familiar with poppies much longer than marijuana becaus of my neighbors at a young age who were botanists and had many types of Somniferum along with other interesting mind altering plants...

No, not upset at all, just wanted you to know that I tried to be complete in explaining how poppies work and that the words are there for your benefit. I did put in a bit about vertical slicing but since you said you got that from someone else I figured I'd let you know it was here too....

Hey hey hey ...... Hey! Lets play nice here.... I find that trying to score pods is a fools errand. Unless you have a hectare and unlimited time . Not to mention the legal aspects of scored pods. It is far better IMO to harvest unscored pods and make some Doda Tea.

Everything's fine here urb, no need to mediate a problem that doesn't exist.

YES, thankfully came across this thread when searching poppy growing info on the internet, most of the guides I found were very vague. I have a couple questions that I would appreciate any advice on.

I live in a high desert region of Southern California at about 3,000ft elevation, dry hot summers with temps over 100 F being common. Fairly cold winters with snow only falling on occasion. Frosts are possible and from late November to May.

With that said, when do you guys think I should plant? Is it too late already for this year? Could I do a fall crop?

I should add that California poppies grow wild here and they're season is mid-February to mid-May, where we still get frosts so I'm assuming poppies in general of course don't mind freezing temps?

The opium poppy will not like frosts or freeze's but they can grow in cooler climates...

Just remember that the photoperiod is reverse compared to pot...
Google knows all(at least much more than me)

Thanks for the reply man. When do you plant your seeds and when do they usually sprout, if you don't mind me asking? From what I see they start growing in regions of the US in the early spring/late winter, when frosts still happen.
