If dissolved O2 is really a big deal, then exactly how much O2 is required to insure optimal oxygenation for the plant, the root balls and the microbial colonies?

What is the optimal safe DO saturation that must be maintained in the res solution through the months of growing?

The commercial growers tell me 81F water temp, 70F air temp, maintain continuous 100% DO saturation is most ideal to insure healthy plants, root balls, microbial colonies and prevent fungal infestations.

Do any of you test the DO Saturation in tour Res water or just guess hand hope day to day that it’s OK?

@Henry most hydro growers on here myself included just like pump as much air into the water as possible- without over doing it.
Ive read into it a little myself but i havnt ever tested or heard of anyone else here testing the do in their res.
9mg/L of water at room temp is just slightly supersaturated- but thers no proof that ive seen that going over 100% saturation helps growth

There's plenty more out there..... Google "how much oxygen do plant roots need" or some such.....

Personally, everything I do, whether soil, coco, any form of hydro and holding reservoirs/tanks is aerated........aye, I've got more air pumps, air domes, membranes and air stones than I can shake a bud at..... but as mentioned in the first link, the cost and trouble with keeping meters calibrated..... Means I can't be bothered to measure, but I know from my time in aquaculture that even modest aeration will ensure as a minimum an O2 saturated water supply, if not actually supersaturated.

Remember to take temparature, altitude and any elevated CO2 levels into account when deliberating O2 levels, all influence actual levels and any meters measuring..... Inter-related...... How quaint....
