I have been looking for a cheap 4 tube fluorescent fixture for some side lighting for my autos.
On searching the net i came across the option of "Overdriving" fluorescent fixtures.
Looks like it may be an interesting option!!

Here is a link:

Anyone ever do this before??

I wouldn't mess with all that rewireing, sounds like a hassle.I would get a few cfl's instead and use them for your side lighting.they will give you more light than the tube lights.

I have modded one two tube fluorescent to just run the single tube, overdriven.
It is about 1.5 times brighter than the two tube set up on the opposite side of the plants.

I want to get a 4 tube ballast and over drive 2 tubes and see what the results are.
Just trying to find a cheap electronic 4 tube ballast!

This is just something that i would like to try and see if it really does make that much of a difference.
Cheap enough to do but the effectiveness still needs to be assessed.
