Hello my fellow autolovers :smokebuds:

I have done lots of research on auto's. I have gone through nearly all the strain data I could ever find on the internet, though unfortunately there are many promising strains still with 0 feedback from growers. Though I have studied my ass off on most things to do with cannabis I am still a bit poor when it comes down to off-the-hand growing experience (though I do have some), not to mention the worst.. I have a pretty novice set up. Though lighting is above average/space the environmental needs a lot of work still / the lack of money is all that keeps me from doing these upgrades.

To get down to details on my set-up and needs:

I have an overheated 3ft. tall(+ a few inches) box with 1 250w dual spectrum HPS and average ventilation that I will upgrade soon(to something slightly better).

I am going for 2 plants for personal use(though i am donating half of my organic medicine to a cancer patient that needs to stock up a bit), i guess a typical ounce/plant/2-3months is fine for me this round. I have some good vertical space, like 2.5ft. x 1ft. so it seems like i should be doing some LST'ing. Im thinking of vegging them with some fluoro's and then bending them vertically from 1 side of the box to the other..

I am pretty much stuck between onyx, fastbud #2, Mi5. It seems like Mi5 has some nice mixed THC/CBD effects w/o couch lock? We don't want the couch lock. This patient friend said he would prefer something less drowsy, as he has batched up on some mild-heavy indicas. Personally I would like something social and energetic. I will be on my bike most of the day and at campus. I would like my weed to guide me to finding more motivation and happiness.. Not that I am not happy as I am, I have spent over a year nearly isolated from society. I wasn't in jail or anything Its just that I was living in a pretty quiet and isolated area after getting my previous college degree, its been like a terribly long holiday that I have proudly managed to learn many things from.. Now I am ready to get back into it all and live out my youth again .

I want 2 fem's that are currently available on the market. Keep in mind my space limitations, I also need some decent distance from the lamp as I don't know how well i will manage to combat heat at short distances. Peace to you all!!

Jah bless

ive seen pretty big grows of the Mi5 and is good smoke ive seen 4oz plants Jackal has about that from his Mi5 onyx is good smoke but i havnt seen big weight grows from them either both great smoke just do a pick and mix get one of each fem and them from there u can decide which one you want ? hope this helps

look at AA from short stuff i think its the most sat dom lil auto there is gonna order some soon

Personally, I think those strains will get too big for your setup. Have you looked at Auto Assassin by Shortstuff? Also the Joint Dr.s Lowryder series may be a good fit. EasyRyder (Auto AK is excellent, BTW).

Keep in mind that 3' grow room shrinks quickly when you hang a light and set up a container......now don't forget to keep distance between the bulb and the plant. The container and light might eat up a full 12" combined. Then add a few inches for spacing, and you are down to a plant that needs to be UNDER 20" in total height. Just a for-warning that plants quickly outgrow the grow room, so plan accordingly. Good luck.

Thanks a lot for the reply! the (h)Asassin seems good, what are the yields like? Unfortunately there are no AA fems out atm and I really don't want luck to play much role this round. I feel pretty confident about going with the Mi5 (lots of good reports). Now its coming down to choosing that second strain. I have read anything there is on fast bud and apparently the effects are very good, but the yield is low.. I think 1/2oz should be what I would be expecting from that one :( Then I think about how it finishes so early leaving the space completely free for my mi5.. So in a way it may contribute in boosting my total yield from my second plant :) Any thoughts on all this are highly appreciated!

Peace

didn't see your post before my reply :) Lowryder seems a bit to smelly for my op, + the price for join doctore seeds is to high to be honest :( I will give some extra space to my grow by removing a shelf (its all a DIY wardrobe) So i will have nearly 4ft. (110cm), I also will do some hardcore LST'ing, I plan on bending them slowly to achieve a 90' vertical growth once the tops reach a good height (closest possible to the light in the 5" - 16" 250hps range). Do you think that this kind of training will cause to much shock? or that the plants will still outgrow my space?

bump - so can any1 give me some first hand info( ..or second np with me :) ) to do with Onyx? Heights, yields? Im thinking of using slightly smaller containers for the grow to keep the plants extra small (less root development, less nute take up, so less height until it finishes). Will that work out as well as I imagine it will? Or are any of these AF's sensitive to being rootbound? Don't want to mess this up so any advise will be well cherished

I've gotten as much as 83 grams off Onyx but my average is around 50. The 83 grams was a bush pheno that got about 28" tall. With Mi5 I've gotten as high as 73 grams and average around 65 grams. They mostly are in the 20 - 24" range. Jackal recently pulled 3.7 oz. off an Mi5 so they can get pretty big. Smoke wise I much prefer Mi5. Onyx is more sativa where Mi5 is a nice balanced high. These were all grown in 3 gallon pots. 2 gallon ones would keep them a little smaller.

Well thanks for the comments everyone, apparently these beasts are bigger than a thought! So maybe I should work with just one mi5.. I will be sure to do a grow journal on here when i do, i really enjoy the site and am looking forward to seeing it becoming bigger :D I will look around for a second strain to germinate with the mi5, its probably going to be an Onyx or a couple of regular Auto-assasins seeds.. I need something short to finish outdoors to boost the total yield.. whats the lowest temp's I can leave my AA's exposed to? Anyone know?

The ruderalis used in developing autos came from colder climates so autos, in general, seem to be pretty hardy. I've had them outdoors till mid November, just moved indoors for the night when the threat of frost. However, keep in mind that growth will slow considerably once the roots cool down that much. And BTW, AA gets just a big as Onxy and Mi5. If you want a short plant look at the Low Life seed line. Things like Hindu Kush and White Russian are smaller plants. Also Snowryder from Short Stuff.

I too try to keep my various plants on the shorter side and use 4" (1 1/2 ltr) pots in a tent under 400whps....I also run my light 12/12 on all my autos...yeah I know I'm reducing yeild but I grow 5 or 6 at a time and only for myself and to share with special friends so healthy plants are my goals with yeilds being secondary.
That being said, I've had lowlifes, short stuffs, lowryders all got 24" and up with a few staying under the 14-15" size.....
I, for one, have never had a good onyx grow and have over 30 seeds in stock...I had such great hopes for'em that just hasn't panned out like some others I've had...They seem to fatten but during dry, they turn to wispy light buds....good smoke but just not the buds that others grown right beside them under the same conditions have done....My next onyx run will be when weather turns cooler so I can run my tent 20/4 and see if it will change things....Right now, I get my make up air from a crawl space and suppliment that with a diverted ac duct to keep temps controlled and run only at night....
