I want to start a SOG in my grow room. I can fit 32 one gallon pots or 20 2 gallon pots. I know that the bigger the pot the bigger the plant. My question is would I get a higher yield with the 1gal pots with 32 pants or using the 2gal pots and only have 20 plants?

Hey mojo, not a dumb question at all. I posted a thread before with the same question. The over all yield will be about the same. Difference is this:
2 gal pots give you bigger yield per plant but take longer to veg (are these photos or autos?)
1 gal pot has less yield per plant but fitting more plants compensates for that. Plus less veg time.
Autos its just a matter of bigger or smaller plants. I'm not sure if doing autos in one container or the other would make a difference in finish time

Let's do some math. With the 1 gallon you may get an oz per plant - 32 OZ total. Not too bad! If you use the 2 gallon you may get 1.5 oz per pot or 30 OZ. Now you could get 2 oz from a 2 gallon but probably not. I use to use 2 gallon pots and never got more than 1.5 oz. With the 3 gallons it's going closer to 2 oz. I'm hoping for 2 each from the 8 I have going now in a 3' X 4' footprint which will be a pound total. I actually have a sog going with only 8 plants in that space.

you never know. a lot depend's on the genetic's. ive seen Mephisto's and Sweet's put out 2+ oz out of a 2 gal. hell I got 2.26 out of a 6x6 inch pot of Autoseed's chem dog and an oz of dinafem sour diesel from a beer can. but those are the only auto's ive grown. so don't listen to me lol.
I just got lucky. most didn't get that much. and it's a pita having to water 2-3 time's a day
id say 1 gal pots are easiest to manage and concur on yield if numbers are ok
Dude, the veg state is pretty much pre programmed so I don't think the size of the 1 or 2 gallon will make any appreciable difference in the start of flowering. You can control that more by the nutes.
