Okey to use seedbanks strains to do my own strains?

Funny how people say everything should be free to all and yet say stuff should also be protected. :eyebrows:

In an artistic field, to use someone else's work directly is infringement. We probably all agree on this.

To use a recognizable portion of it is derivative work, and still seen as infringement in music, photos, and more.

The original work has to be changed enough to be considered new work, and fair use. This point is subject to much interpretation.

Yes. but those are legal arguments. Pot is illegal, at least in the context of the government that protects intellectual property rights, so it has no legal IT protections. .

Who cares? Slapping duct tape over somebody else's signature on something they created and signing your own in sharpie is still crass and dickish, whether or not the law gets involved. Do you really need an external authority to tell you that?

It would be really interesting to get input from some of the Seeedbanks and professional growers that are part of AFN. Like Paul from Multiverse or Jean-O might have some really good insights here.

The legality of an item should not affect your moral decisions on the issue of using someone else's work.
Thats silly. Of course it should effect your "moral" decisions, I am just pointing out the irony of people talking about "moral"
decisions related to what is still criminal commercial activity..

You can be a criminal, a criminal with style. An honest thief... There are a few out there.
