Ok, I ordered a control wizard PH tester. I will get this right this time, thanks Muddy.

I looked online and found most everything I will need at Lowes.

Is Miracle Grow Bone Meal & Blood Meal OK or should I find another brand. I know many don't like MG Products.

Epson Salts? What's that for and how much do I add?

MG blood and bone meal is ok. Its just the soil you don't want. If you're outside I recommend a cup per large mix. As a side dressing I use a teaspoon per plant. For nute mixes I use 1teaspoon per gallon those rates are for the epsom salts. It boosts the magnesium and sulphur levels. The lime will help with calcium.

You can make a descent mix out of what's usually available at Lowes or Home Depot. Sphagnum peat moss, perlite, humus and/or your cow manure. Mix it at a ratio of about 70% peat moss, 20% perlite and 10% manure. If you can find some hydrated lime, get that also. Mix in some bone meal, blood meal and epson salts. You'll need to check the pH, which will likely be low. The hydrated lime will raise it. You'll need a pH tester. Don't bother with the $20 ones like the Rapid Test that they sell locally. Either get strips or get yourself one of these: http://cgi.ebay.com/CONTROL-WIZARD-...441?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item415baea141.

Mix a sample batch, wet it with the water you intend to use, wait a day or two and then test. This mix would be considered soil less, so the pH should be around 5.8 to 6.0.

Ok Muddy... 70% Sphagnum peat moss, 20% Perlite, 10% Humus and/or Manure (Cow?)... Now the Bone, Blood Meal & Epson Salts, How much do I add in?

I want my PH to be No more than 6.5%, Correct?

And the Lime, I just add until my PH is right I guess? (A little at a time of course.)

Don't give up on me Muddy, I'll get this yet!

LOL, I'm not gonna give up on you. We'll make a grower out of you yet!

About 1 tablespoon each of the blood, bone and epson salts per gallon of mix should be good. The lime is a little trickier. I use the Pro Mix, which already has some lime in it. I add 1 cup per 5 gallons of mix. You'll need to mix some up without the lime, then check the pH to see where you're at. Lime can take awhile to become effective so it won't immediately change the pH. Try to get hydrated lime if you can. It will not be pellets or granular, but more the consistency of flour. Hydrated lime works faster. Once you see where your pH is we'll figure out how much lime to add.

The pH for this type mix should be around 5.8 to 6.0 as this is considered a soil less mix, so pH and nutrients are similar to hydro. This chart should give you a better idea of how pH effects nutrient uptake.
