Hey all, mods feel free to move this if this isn't in the best area for this.

Week 9, I checked on my runt MI5 because she was looking weird. The top was dry and the hairs had gone from orange translucent to burnt red and dead looking. Looks like the buds stopped fattening and started producing seed. I pulled a few samples off few plants and many looked like they were seeded. It seems must of had a hermie somewhere.

:cuss:

I have 10 MI5's and 10 Onyx all at the same stage. They were looking like I had about two weeks left before flush. What should I do now?

Time is of the essence now, I would chop after a short flush and dark period. :ama:
I recently had my room seeded by hermies and all I did was give them a big wash out (ran a hose though the soil for a massive flush for a few hours a couple/three times a day, then replaced with PHed water) then let them dry a bit, followed by a 4 day dark period. By the end of it the plant looked almost dead, all droopy, and fading but the hairs went from white to red very quickly and the finished product, while seeded, tastes great and works, and doesn't seem like it was harvested too early even though it was over a month early (sativa strain)...

Thanks surffreak23 . I was afraid of that.

They just started showing milky trichs and were fattening. Hopefully they still have a decent potency. It's a heart breaker, but at least a I have a few photos to go right into the chamber once I sterilize it. Must have been something I did along the way...

Might have been a hermie but I've not heard of any from either of those strains. If they don't look heavily seeded I would be tempted to just let them finish out. Personally I'd rather have that last two weeks of bud fattening and not worry about a few seedsw.

The auto males showed really early and I think I got them all in time. My photos were all sexed w/out changing the light cycle, so no photo males even showed pollen sacks in the veg room.

I seemed to get allot of tiny seeds from just one sample. What would constitute "heavily seeded"? I didnt flush them, I was going to do that today. But I need to make a decision asap.

Why not just remove it and keep it alive for the seeds. That way you will not have to buy more seeds later. I always want a male plant or a hermie, but i never get one.

ashcream, There are a few that seem to be seeded. I have 20 plants in my flower room right now, so the damage has been done. Personally I dont want any hermie genetics, they cause havoc. Like breeding a retarded mutt dog with pure bred champion. IMHO. I also have a few photo females in my veg chamber ready to go. I now have to wash them down really good as they all have a few pre flower pistils.

Hermies suck, period.:cuss:

I found one hermie so far....it was my Onyx runt, had dried up male flowers on a bottom, waaaaaay inside the branches. Thats how I missed it. The male flower was very yellowed and brownish, which leads me to believe it popped long ago.

UPDATE:

I had to pull half of the plants. Looked very seeded, calyx's starting to develop seed instead of resin etc. I did a super flush and they have been in the dark for 24 hours now. They have already started to do what they are suppose to, eating off the remaining leaves & fattening up.

The other half, including my 3 huge MI5's will be grown out. They didnt look too bad, plus the buds on my MI5 bushes are beautiful so far, so I want to see what they turn into.

Did not find any more hermies. I guess that Onyx was the culprit.

That just sucks and really makes me sad. That's the first time I've ever heard of a hermie from an Onyx. I've only ever had 1 hermie from an auto and it was from a batch I was testing for auto flowering and hermies, so it wasn't a surprise when I got one. Still good for making oil or hash though.
