I know the ocean forest is supposed to be "hot"...I do thin the mix with extra perlite to try and offset that some. I'd like to eventually try the happy frog someday. Heck, maybe next run! The real question/misunderstanding I'm trying to get figured out (and should've really been asking) is "When to start my official countdown?" Let's say an auto strain description says 55 days til finish...Does the OICIAL COUNT start day 1 when the seed first popped OR after the third set of true leaves

I began growing with Ocean Forest/Happy Frog/Perlite, then for several years I used 50/50 Ocean Forest/Perlite and eventually moved to Coco Loco and Canna coco.

One of the most frustrating parts about seed Breeders and Vendors is their information, or the lack there of. You really can't go by their published grow time-frames very often. Generally you should add a couple weeks. Some give you flowering time, but no veg time. Some give the whole grow time, but no specific veg/flower time. It does frost my cheeks! It's sloppy, it's bullshit, and there is no reason for it.

When I research strains it begins with the Seed Breeders site, the Vendor site and Seed Finder. I've seen far too many strains with incorrect info given, or conflicting info. Did I say that frosts my cheeks?

When using my previous mass built led lights, I ran them around the clock and could achieve under, or spot on the published time-frame for some strains. Day one of my grows starts when the seed has popped.

I count day one as the first day above soil.. I call the first set of true leaves (3 or more fingers) the start of seedling stage.. I call the 5th set of true leaves the start of veg.. About a month or so later, flower. Its hard to pinpoint stages with autos. Some finish long, some quick. I used OF for a long time.. I didn't feed my plants for a about a month or so. I usually go by the plants, not by days or weeks. The plant will show you if it needs something.

It is frustrating, but it is the nature of the autoflower. The grow descriptions are calculated based on their test environment, and the experience of testers. Any non photo sensitive plant will have variation in growth cycles. I always count from germination day. The minute I see that curly little head the clock starts.

My grows without nutes haven't been bad at all especially considering I'm still using cfl's too! The only additive I've used is HiBrix molasses. I like the taste of everything I've grown but I feel like the potency could/should be better. I know I'd get better weight and density with more light. Plan on maybe using one of my HLG 65 panels sooner or later. Currently vegging photos with them.
