Hey guys,

my seeds finally arrived and now I am wondering, since this is my first autoflower grow should I go with 9 or 12 plants on 5x5 or 1.5x1.5m tent?

They will have approximately 2.5gallons or 10liters per plant (no pots - whole tray ebb & flow) and I am not sure how big will their cannopy get, all strains have 70-120cm height) but I don't think 9 will be enough to cover the whole light 5x5 surface?

anyone got any suggestions on this subject?

The strains are The Devil Cream and Dark Devil from Sweet Seeds and Crystal Meth and Purple Lemonade from Fastbuds.

I think I could squeeze in 12 plants without major issues, since I don't plan to top them... maybe LST a bit but then again it could be overcrowded, should I do 9 plants for first run then see if I can squeeze in more on the next one? :S

any input is appreciated people!
thank you

12 would be better imo with 2.5 gallons. What medium? You probably wouldn't need to train them

I run a 5x5 and I would think 9 would be pushing it.

really? :S hmmm, how much plants do you run? I never did autos indoor so I really don't know how big I expect them to get, I did some couple of years ago outdoors but they were fairly small :S

Gonna do hydroton (clay pebbles) for faster irrigation and drain cycles for more growth (did coco last, dries too slow for my liking).

Yea training is kind of "optional" i guess, my main problem is I have a 3.5x3.5 tray inside a 5x5 tent so I have like 0.75 off each side (around 25 cm) of space, so I intended to maybe bend the "outer ring" plants toward the wall outside the tray to create a bit more canopy space but will see how that goes :)

my idea behind this is to truly just create an automated plant and go box, I can't afford perpetual growth with photos yet due to lack of space for vegging box so I wanna run my tent whole year, and by what I read autos don't really like training because of their limited growth time if you fuck it up enough they don't have time to recover.

I will probably like use 1-2 plants to experiment a bit and see how they do with training compared to the ones I just leave to grow... I really don't want to defoliate and train them like I did with photoperiods, I just want something that requires less "maintaining" thats also among the reasons I opted to try out autoflowers this time.

So yea just plant and grow, touch as little as possible and just increase water cycles as they get bigger and change the nutrient solution about every 2 weeks is what I hope to achieve. Autos really seem perfect for that option, I haven't been experimenting with them before because genetics were quite bad but I am seeing more and more polished products and also smoked some that blew me away, really can't say the genetics ain't here anymore :D sorry if i lost train of thoughts I am high as fuck xD

I completely get your line of thinking. I'm making mothers and clones right now for a perpetual that I just transplant, foliar, flower and leave alone. I'm over training and doing detrimental things for possible yield.

I'm in a 4x4 tent but I'm using a 3x3 tray. I plan to start with 36 clones in that space but I would want a good consistent well bred auto if I was going to sea of green it. I can't afford to constantly buy seeds but I have the space for mothers. Have you looked at Vivosun's 2 in 1 5x4x7 grow tent. It has two 1x4 spaces built into the tent and separated with a wall to hold some mothers and clones. I think it would work great for a perpetual auto tent as well.

Just saw you are in small bags. with small plants and a sog you can run lots. The bigger yielding xl plants, I'm full At 5. Negative pressure in my tent reduces size by 1x1x1x1

Facing a similar problem now with negative pressure. I am thinking about getting some poles/sticks to put diagonally across each side of the tent to fix it. Any suggestions?

yes , thinking the same. I have a bunch of old hockey sticks laying around. May get creative at some point.

Size of the tent isn't nearly as important as your lighting.
5x5 is 25 square feet. With autos you can get away with 25w of Quality LED lighting per square foot. So, provided you have 625w (wall draw) of cobs or Quantum boards...
Depends on what you want. If you want a little roo. Around each plant, probably 4 or maybe 6, depending on strain. If your going to pack them in and run more a scrog look with a flat deck of buds...9 or 16, again depending on strain. These are for smaller to medium plants. I've had a couple XL strains nearly max a 4x4 by themselves.

Quality means COB or Quantum boards. Not blurple, or box lights with 5 or 10w diodes from Amazon.

Fighting little k def. But this is 9 in 1 gall bags in a 4x4. 1 gallon bags of soil your riding a razor for feeding... I coulda got 1 more in... a seed run that ended up with a "no daddy available " issue. He decided to not be completely a he. So he got tossed and it'l just be a great Christmas.
