New Grower Not much Duck In this AutoDuck!

One thing I do need to tackle for my next grow is the heat. I’ve been steady at mid-low 20s with the CFLs, swapped out for the LED (in hind sight 600w was probably too much for my little grow fridge but the lying LED seller stated ‘no heat LED!!’) left it 30mins and the temps were up in the 50s! I’ve had to stick the LED on the flowering switch and turn the ‘veg’ switch off just to remain at a good heat. For ventilation I was just using a passive intake and a 4inch computer fan as the extraction... I have ordered a 4inch in-line + carbon filter which I plan to use outside the fridge (due to space) does anyone know if this stronger extraction will aid in lowering my temps?

Assuming the fan is quite a bit more powerful than the current one it should help to lower temps at least to some degree.

Yeah the current one is SHITE! That’s good news then, I have ordered some Northern Lights 9 for my next grow as I fancied some indica so I’m kind of looking forward to that now and learning from the mistakes I made this time!

I figured I’d go with a low odour strain again but (according to the reviews) slightly more smell than the AutoDuck just to give my new carbon filter a run and make sure it works well enough before I jump into something pungent!

I’ll let you know how the harvest goes with the AutoDucks, planning to chop the most mature one either this weekend or mid next week. Thanks for your help btw [emoji1360]

I also found an internal fan blowing across the surface of the light toward the outtake fan helps cooling(I am running three 100X3w leds in a 54"long X 16"deep X 34" tall stealth cabinet)

oh wow so that wasnt even a proper grow light? those look huge mate. pop22 knows his shit aswell so if he says they’ll be fine then i wouldnt worry. : )

UPDATE: harvested today, those leaves all over the plant made it really hard to see what I was working with but during harvest I realised that it had Hermied like crazy, so that was the reason my bud wasn’t forming properly.. new grower error, might have been when I swapped out for an LED and my temps flew up over night.

I have to see the positive in the negative so at least I have something to smoke and the chance to get things right next time which is better than nothing.

I have some Northern Lights, Feminised Auto from Sensi Seeds for my next grow which after some reading had me thinking- are feminised seeds more prone to Hermie?? Some people say they are some say they aren’t.. I just wanna get my second grow right!

fem should be no difference for hermi's. the process by which fem seeds are made uses silver-ions to block the ethylene receptor(ethylene is a plant-hormone). so, it's a hormone-thing. the process doesn't change the genes at all, it's similar to when humans take hormone therapy, or the stories of the cold war eastern european female athletes who took too much steroids and started looking male. genetically they're still the same, they just look different due to taking additional hormones.

however, if you don't do it well, for example not using silver to reverse but instead use stress or over-flowering('rodelisation'), you're selecting towards plants who express as hermi without messing with hormones, so in that case the seed is more likely to give hermi's too.

but well made fem seeds should be good, no difference with regular. also completely fine to breed with. genetically there's no difference between a female from fem seed and one from reg seed.

hey buddy glad your staying positive. its all a learning curve. we all make mistakes but life goes on eh : ) hows she smokin?
