Hi all!

This is my first time growing NL autos, they are approx 3 weeks old looking nice and strong and green! My Grow info is:

Indoor Grow
26c temps
45% RH
Water/ bio Grow alternative feeds
PH 6.4
4inch extraction fan
650w Meizhi LED

the plants look great, apart from 1 problem- the first set of leaves which grew directly after the cotyledons are completely yellow. Like not patches, just completely yellow!!

I read somewhere that this is normal and the leaves have fed the seedlings helping to produce more leaves. The plants are about 5/6 inches tall, with approx 4 sets of leaves.

These are the only leaves yellow the whole rest of the plant is healthy green.

Is this normal? Can anyone with more experience reassure me?? I can get pics tomorrow if necessary hopefully il just over thinking! HELP!

TIA!

HI McTavish, yes the yellowing lower leaves are all completely normal here.. the autos have a "shelf life" so regardless of the light cycle used, whether it's 12/12/, or 18/6, or 20/4 they will still grow and eventually bloom. Do you have any pictures? you will get a better more accurate response.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I don’t have photos but I will upload some tomorrow and tag you in the post. My concern was that my previous Grow which was DP Autoduck started yellowing towards the end of flower which was expected whereas this grow the 2 leaves are completely yellow and the rest of the plant is lovely and green at only 3 weeks from seed and 5/6inch talk.

I’ll stick some photos up tomorrow and hopefully it will help in working out if it’s normal or not.

I had the same experience with my recent northern lights autos, one or two of the lower fan leaves had yellowed early on, but my understanding is this is all quite normal for auto-flowering plants, and it made no difference whatsoever, so I didn't worry too much.. as long as everything else is ok, and the rest of the plant appears healthy and happy, then I wouldn't worry too much.. look forward to the pics, and happy growing : )

Yes, the very first leaves are often the first to go, particularly the cotyledon leaves, which have served their purpose with "the whole rest of the plant...healthy green."

Soon enough, you'll have enough foliage that you'll be pulling leaves from the bottom, if only to add air circulation under the plant.

Sorry for the delay, I’ve been away with work, so here’s the pictures- I did notice tonight that before I went away with work I watered them more than normal because I didn’t know how long it would be until I was home- as well as the yellowing bottom leaves I now seem to have droopy leaves!! [emoji31]

So firstly- should I be worried about the yellowing leaves?

And secondly- have I overwatered? The soil was bone dry tonight so if I have overwatered then I’m not sure why the pots are light as a feather and dry as a bone?!!

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated, these 2 seem to have great potential, they’ve grown so much quicker than my first Grow I’m just desperate to make this work now that I have invested in all the necessary Grow Room bits and bobs.
