Hi everybody. I am going to start my first ever grow (autoflowering, of course) in two weeks or so. I still have some doubts though. Hope you guys can help me.

I have a 35x70Wx85Hcm small cabinet. I want to use two PC fans (intake and outtake), cover the inside of the tub with Mylar and use a CF to keep odour under control.

Here are my questions:

1. Can I use a 150W hps light in such a small space? Would heat be an issue? I want to grow only two or three plants. Or would a 200 CFL light be a better solution in this case?
2. Can I connect my CF directly to the PC fan or do I need some sort of adaptor?
3. Will two PC fans be enough for such a small space?

Hope you guys can help me. Love this site :jump:

Welcome Bodaishin! With two weeks to go and the help you'll receive here, you should be able to get your area setup real nice.

Two computer fans, one intake and one out, seems a bit less that ideal for what you have planned. Even if you decide on the 200w cfl, you'll probably still have heat issues.
I would recommend both of the fans (or even three!) as exhaust, and just a passive intake.
I tried hooking up a DIY CF to computer fans and they were way too weak. They wouldn't even blow (enough) through those active CF sheets.

Don't worry, all of our AFN homies will get you squared away quick!

Thanks for the heads up :smokebuds: I guess I'll add a fourth question to the others then:

4. Will a axial extractor fan like this one be more suitable?

This is how I made my box.
I saw this a while back... very nice work Scott. I used an adaptation (used 1 three socked fixture) for my seedlings, and it is the bomb!

NOTE: Just a word of caution to the OP and any new growers... In my experience, adequate ventilation seems to be the hardest thing for new growers to get their head around. It is important, and if you try to take inadequate shortcuts, you will either lose your crop, or you will continue to spend until you end up getting adequate options. If you haven't been around indoor growing, you really don't realize how much heat these grow lights put out, except maybe in the case of LED's.

I think its also importand to take odor control in account as well. Its a major drag to come home and you whole house smells like weed from 4 little plants. I ended up removing all the fans and using a inline fan and carbon filter with the fan exiting right out the back that handles the cooling. You never really need a fan for intake
