Hiya and Happy New Year

Well I am day 24 (from sprouting) of my first grow. Got a single White Dwarf in a single 10l pot. Have a 200w CLF, passive intake and about to fit my 4in fan & filter.

Got a little problem, I have converted a Arg*s kids wooden Toy Box into my grow box (up on its end :) Not used any nutes yet, just plain water that is a day old.

Currently in the loft, and causing a few condensation issues, but the outtake fan will sort that.

Please can somebody confirm the average height for a White Dwarf at 24 ish days ?? My problem is that plant has now reached within 1 cm of the light (which is bolted to the inside of the box) and noticed the top fan leaves have started curl from almost touching the light.

Can i stop my beauty growing, and put it into flower or am I going to have to buy a tent to give me the head room ?

Grateful for any answers :)

speedyjam.

I am growing white dwarfs. I am at around day 80. I also have red dwarfs.
It seems that not all white dwarfs will grow the same. I have two w.d. that
are 26 inches and two that are 36 inches.
1 of the small ones is a real bushy plant, wingspan of 30 in. The other small one is what
I consider normal, wingspan of 20 in.
The two larger ones I had the same trouble with growth. Could not stop it.
I am using 3gal pots and my room is 6ft high and I ran out of room. My light is at its max
height (600HPS). Since I'm in the final stages of flowering no more height issues.
All my plants were about 10 inches tall at day 30. I fed nothing but water for the first month.
I then used A.N. Sensi bloom with Bud candy. The plants seem to be able to take alot of nutes.

This is also my first grow so its been a real learning curve for me.
Be glad to share any info since I'm still learning.

Cheers.

Thanks Kloaker for that - after all the research i did, I am very surprised how big and bushy it is for 25 days !! Simple answer was pot was too big - me thinks :)

I will try and get a pic up in moment - take a look and see what you think

I was thinking of using Oldtimer from day 30 - any opinions?

Thanks

Welcome to AFN and the New Growers Forum. There's a technique called LST (Low Stress Training), that might work for you. Basically it's bending the plant over and tying it down so it grows more horizontally instead of vertically. You can punch a hole just under the rim of your pot, loop a piece of string over the branch and start to gently pull it down. Don't try to do it all at once. Just bend it until there is resistance, then come back in a day or two and pull it down a little more. It should end up looking like this:

The plant in the first picture is about 30" tall and by LSTing it, I'm able to keep it to about 22". The second one was a smaller plant, about 20" tall, and with the LST, ended up being about 12".

speedyjam.

Pot size would make a difference. But I wonder if reducing the pot size would reduce the bud size also.
I would try LST as Muddy suggested. If you can. I could not use LST as I had no room sideways.

I have not heard of OLDTIMER. But I'm still new to all the products out there.

This site has helped me with information I coudn't find anywhere.
And with the help of Muddy am very happy with the state of my grow.
I'm sure if you ask you'll get great help here.

Happy growing.
Cheers.
