Ive read so many different ways of doing everything. I have a couple questions for now. I have yet to buy anything as I want to get a list of what to get first. This will be my first grow. Ive decided on a GL80, and Nirvana Autoflower short ryders as Ive seen many say for a newbie there a great way to start. I have yet to decide on lighting. I like the idea of LED as cost efficent. But also found this local ***Grow Light*** moving must sell!! I can spend up to $350 on lighting. Is the seller of the craigslist link lying about only $20 a month on electric to run that light? I would like to grow 5 plants at a time. But if reccomended will start with 1 or 2. For filter I havent decided but have heard good things about this one New MTN Hydroponic 4" Inline Duct Fan Carbon Filter Kit | eBay Opinions on this would be nice also, would like to save some cash if possible but if its what will work then thats what ill go with. Ill start with those questions. I appreciate any responses and will continue reading and learning. thanks

Just wanted to say if cash is a real problem then scratch the LED and do a grow with CFL I still grow mainly with them and I get good results. Also the cheap way to go is to grow plants that don't have a lot of smell and scratch the carbon filter and just grow with an exhaust fan. Most types don't grow with a lot of smell but some do. I haven't grown either of the two you are thinking of so I can't comment on the smell.

Cash isnt a real problem, but saving is nice! I live in an apartment complex so I think the carbon filter will be a must. is that light i posted from craigslist a great setup for a gl80 tent? Also it comes with 3 bulbs would I need any other lighting. Thanks again Very nice site here!!!

would a blackstar be ideal for my tent? reason im leaning towards LED is easier to control heat, and cheap monthly. I hate high bills! if so which black star would you reccomend, or any other LED. Thanks!

1000 watt light for that small of a tent is WAY overkill , as well as a heat problem . The price isn't bad on the light , but as always , buyer beware .

In a tent that small you could spend $140 and get a 400 with both bulbs . That would light it up plenty . Or you can squeak into LED with a 100 watt Blackstar and CFLs . I have a test tent that is 36" x 20" x 70" and I have been able to run a single 180 Blackstar . Although I did add a few Blackstar 100s recently .

You can never have to much light , but you can have issues with heat with an over abundance of light .

Right now you can get a 8 bulb 48" T-5 Cfl for $139 on Ebay
with free shipping, already has the bloom bulbs in place, I would
recommend picking up 4 6500k bulbs for grow, and have a mixed
spec of light. Free shipping also, I would post the link if I new how.

A lot less heat issues with CFL compared to HPS.

I would go with the 240 blackstar . Only because people tend to buy the minimum for a space , just to expand later . The 240 isn't that much more , and falls into you $350 cap . Also , get the light directly from Gotham Hydro . call them up and you can normally get a better price than Amazon .

Btw , do a little research on light coverage to make sure you are making the most of the area you are using , whether it's LED or HID .

His tent is less than 48" , so it would not fit . I believe it is 31" x 31"

GL 80 Measurements - 2'7" x 2'7" x 5'11" I may just be slow but I dont think a 48 inch light will fit. I should have posted measurements prior. My bad.
