I am new to growing and will be growing outdoors and in 5 gallon pots with MED GOM 1.0 fem seeds. I live on the west coast of the US. my grow it geared more for the CBD.

Any advice on the type of soil mix I should use and the type nutrients that I should be using throughout the life cycle.....

cpinks, if you're new to growing I strongly recommend reading this link (It's one of the stickies at the beginning of this section)
https://www.autoflower.org/index.php?threads/new-growers-guide-grow-lowes-easy-dirt-guide.16495/
I still use this soil mix, with a few tweaks, for all my plants.
1 bag (1.5 cubic feet) of Patio Plus
Eyeball 10% of washed, NOT MIRACLE GROW perlite (you don't want the added stuff)
2 shovels of course sand
1 cup Jobes PW flowering plant food
I've never burned a plant with this mix, and it will keep them happy at least to the third leaf stage.
When you think it's mixed well, mix it again.
And yes, I still use the fish fert, with again some tweaks:cheers:

This was very helpful especially with me being so new to this, wg who wrote the guide ends it at 9 weeks what if it needs longer like 10-12 weeks, do you continue with water and 1 tsp black strap molasses, and how do you know when to flush it?

TY for all the help/

Other things to have on hand are CaMg (I use general organics, it has no N in it), and a word of caution, pink, the fish fertilizer has quite a smell to it.
Advanced Nutrients, Rock, GH, all make good nute packages that you may want to consider over the fish and molasses. The soil is the main thing I like, very simple, buffers pH well, and inexpensive.
P.S., any feeding schedule is easily extended to handle longer grows. I dig it when they go 80 days plus!
:peace:

This is just an update on where I am in my grow..Planted on the21st, soil - 32 qts kellogg organic soil, mixed with 1 cup bio-tone, 4 qt perilite, 8lbs coarse sand. Mixed well then mixed again. I did this twice and filled up 4- five gallon containers. Thoroughly water the planted seed in 3 pots with plastic over top for humidity. Still no sprouts, been doing reading and came across an thread that says humidity is not good for seed and can cause mold or fungus. So as a test I uncovered one and kept two still with plastic. for my 4th pot i am germinating with the paper towel water methods to see how each one does and is more favorable for me. This is my first time growing hope all goes well. Any suggestions or tips you would like to share will be greatly appreciated.

Renaissance redneck - thanks I guess I'll have to see how the fish fert works out....or not.

It can, I s'pose, but the main enemy is soggy soil. Until they sprout, your best friend is a mister bottle:thumbsup: Keep the soil damp, but not soaked. Covered is a good thing at this stage, as it keeps your top layer from drying out.

I grew a huge NL my first time out, with just the fish, , Molasses and MG for flower. CaMg is a very important supplement to have waiting in the wings:biggrin:

Here is an update on my MED GOM 1.0 (1)

after 3rd day of germination it sprouted a 1 inch root, on Aug. 3rd I planted it in soil here. (would today aug. 4 be considered day 4=four). here is a pic. I also saw this little bug on top of the soil maybe 2, should I worry?? If so how can I naturally remove them??(second pic buggy)

I always keep 2 dates in mind, pinks, but everyone's a bit different. I count the first day above soil as "Day 1 germ", more or less its official birthday:biggrin: After 3 sets of true leaves, I count that as "Day 1, feeding schedule".
Congratulations! :bravo:
That little bugger looks like a fruit fly. They love damp areas, and can breed really fast. I'm basically a bug hater; I like ladybugs (even after one bit me back in the 80's) and preying mantis, about everything thing else goes bye-bye. You can buy traps for them at most hardware store and garden centers, or put a paper funnel in a jar baited with a bit of apple cider vinegar and set it near your pots.

:frowny::frowny:Okay so they over ran and killed my seedling. Nasty little buggers. Question : do I need to scrap my 5 gallon bucket of soil mixture? I'm almost sure I do.....just thought I'd ask since I'm new to this. I had prepped my soil mixture ahead of time maybe a week before, do you think that may have "tainted" my soil, giving bugs time to infest??. Essentially dooming my seedling from the beginning Thanks for all info. I still have 2 others I kept separate, I hope they will be good.

Thanks Red, I will be prepping my apple cider jars as a precaution.

Aw, crap. :pass:
I've never lost a plant to a fruit fly, pinks, something else is happening here. Did you find them just flopped over?
