330w for 1400 bucks ehh I will stick to my California Lightworks 800w Solarstorm :)

What few people, its seems, realize is that plants can only use so much light and then it goes to waste.
Photosynthesis is the process by which plant leaves make carbohydrates. Sunlight (or an artifical light source), CO2
and water are converted into carbohydrates and O
2 by the action of chlorophyll in the chloroplasts
of the plant. Plants growing indoors under artificial light often lack enough CO
2 to efficiently
photosynthesize or just the oppisite if not enough light is given. When plants are able to maximize the process of photosynthesis that they are capable of with its maximum ability to use the light and CO2 and its neutrients, the result is
larger plants with larger yields. To much of any one or not enough of any one, will reduce its potential

So what the heck does this mean?? The LED industry has come a long way in just the last couple of years and there are now many very good inexpensive LEDs available. After studing the claims of the "best", I find that even though there is a lot of nonsense markting double talk, some of these are without a doubt pushing out more LUX and par in the correct areas then most, and the technology they are useing (such as 5wt single chips with polished glass lens's without haveing to use a secondary len's to focus the light), BUT its now at the point that its over kill and even with CO2 injection systems and hydropontics of some sort, there is just to much wasted light for the dollar.

If an LED seems to cheap (like off ebay), it probably is just that. but these LEDs at $1000+ for 300wts is all for your ego, not the plant. You can acomplish the same for half the price if you choose the right fixture..

The videos on youtube showing comparisons with the LEDs producing wispy buds are either 1-2 years old, or they chose crapy LEDs.

I have not taken apart the Blackstar so I don't know how easy it is to work on but i know a lot of people here have gotten good results. I would consider this the bottom line of good LED from what i can gather from users and the technolgy that is advertised it uses that they have made available for us. The Apollo is a very good LED for the money and we have tested the 300wt (287wt) against the very best hybrid 600wt-1100wt electronic ballasted MH/HPS and it stood right up to it in coverage and quality buds with 1/3 the energy and 1/10 the heat.

I have been working with another company using advanced Apollo type technology for even better par and producing the same LUX with a 120degree lens compared to my Apollo 90degree lens. It will have the same 90 day return policy, 3 year warranty, and is completely modular so anybody can fix it right in their home if they prefer not to send back for repairs. this means zero down time as the light continues to function regardless of which component goes down.

This does not mean that I am not totally impressed with what some of these very high end fixtures in use, but i also know very well from years of producing lights, more does not always mean better specially when it means 3-4 times the costs.

Just my FYI.... :)
