I’m just going to say what I have used and why. Have grown many plants in the Autopots and have used, coco/perlite, pure coco, coco/soil, and soil. I would never use promix because it is unsustainable and most folks I know have problems using it. I now prefer my soil/perlite mix I mix from compost, garden soil, and perlite 1/3 each more than any of the others. Since I starting using it I have had zero problems with pH lockout.I've been looking for good answers through search but havent found them exactly. Ive only done hydro (undercurrent), hempy and soil (ffof). I just bought a autopot x4 setup. Super excited about it. Everyone says coco is awesome, but ive never used it. Id like to know someone who uses promix or coco w an easyish regiment and autopots who is generally successful. I found hansbrick. Im trying to figure out what is best. I know organics dont mix w autopots unless mixed into soil. I got some megacrop to do next grow as i heard its great. I do not have alot of time as my responsibilities and work schedule are generally incredible. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Im in the US. What is best promix or coco w autopots? What is best nutes (yield/quality) for coco, that go well with megacrop? Do i have to go RO water im on tap previously and doing good, not great. Ty for whatever help in advance.
Air domes, I can’t tell you. I use them religiously but have no clue if they actually help. I can’t help but think they have to help or my airdomes wouldn’t look like they do when finished. There are literally a mass of roots entangled all thru the dome. That white mass at the bottom of my growing medium is where the airdome sits.
We still have not figured out why some people have bad scale buildup on in their trays and in their reservoir. Have seen MegaCrop do it on other people’s grows but never on mine. I have not even rinsed out my trays or reservoir since June of this year. I use mostly rainwater and highly recommend it, if you live away from major cities. I live out in the country and my rainwater is 0 ppm and a pH of 7.0. I have also used my tap water which is 200ppm with a pH of 7.0. My water company uses chloramines which don’t evaporate thru aeration so I use something for aquariums to remove it. Otherwise, just drop an air stone in your tap water for a few hours and away the chlorine goes. So far I have had very few problems with my tap water except I can back off the cal/mag a little. I have used distilled water but I do not like the way the pH drifts when using it, I seemed to be chasing it daily. Never used RO because of the initial expense and the amount of water it wastes to clean it up. Plus my rain barrel keeps me loaded up with rain/snow water all year round.
