Lighting Nebula Splits the 8x4 - 220 watts of Autocob vs 915 watts of HID

I myself have been caught up in the idea of buying a small wendyhouse and growing in that, however heat would be the biggest factor to try and overcome, as I would not be allowed an ounce of light leaks, as that would raise a number of red flags...
And an AC just in there is going to be quite a costly task

Let me get this out of the way first

15 days ago I received 4 autocobs from @BigSm0
This Skylar White was 15 days old. Now it won't stop growing! Help me Sm0! You didn't tell me I would have to train my plants :headbang:

I have decided to add another 50 gallon tub o' nugs to the tent, with the fresh mephisto beans just arrived this week. Four strains. One each will be going into the 50 gal. This tub will be next to another tub, taking up approx. 4x4.

I thought it would be a fun idea to cram my 600 w hps and 315 w cmh into half of the tent.
It's now a split tent. 220 watts of autocob vs. 915 watts of HID. (there's a little overlap from the cmh, couldn't cram it all the way in the other half of tent )

2 autocobs are placed above each 50 gallon tub.

These beans will be going into this tub

This is the Autocobs competition. 6 plants under 915 watts of Old School. I mean HID :smoking:

It's your fault BigSm0......if I go into the tent one day and never come back out. When you're in a sea of green it's hard to tell which way is out :vibe:

Autocobs gonna outshine the competition :headbang:

I like the way you do multiple plants in a big container. The only other person i've seen grow this way is Soma, and he grows some of the best weed i've ever tasted. Have you ever had any issues with hermies?

Hermies? I sure hope not! It's my first run ever in a pot over 5 gallons. Actually is my first real grow indoors from seed in over 10 years. I read up on organics for a couple months when I realized I would be able to grow again. I don't think multiple plants in one pot would create hermie issues. But I would think having three different light sources in one tent may cause some issues. Not really sure...I aim to go all cob in a few months if I can

I did have some issues with hermies on some Haze cross (photo) that I was growing clones of. Talked with the grower and he said it was a genetic issue that I brought out by stressing it's environment. Fluctuating temps half way through flower and a few hermied on me.

The hermie is a stress thing, bought on, I think, by the roots being in close proximity. I've seen it a few times with plants that are close together, 2 plants in 1 pot ect.

You have a nice setup going @NebulaNuggets and more cobs on the way your going to be stacked in some sweet buds. I don't know what I was thinking but the 30 degree temp increase down here makes me want to head back home.

Part of the problem with mixing temps is the overlap from light to light. Usually it doesn't work out as well as it seems it should either. The only situation I'd recommend something like that would be if you were doing 5 cobs in a square. The center one should cover the most area and also be the different one making it an even spread. I really like the idea of surrounding the cmh as well. I have a couple collecting dust that I should pull out and copy.

Light wise you would kill it in the 4x8. That's almost double what I had for wattage

I moved out here to southern AZ 5 years ago. That first summer, I was shocked! But as they say, it's a dry heat LOL you get used to it. Now I get cold in the winter when the highs are 65 F, I love the heat! Took me a year or two but I am an adjusted reptile now. I can barely get moving til I soak up some sun!

Nice thing here is the year round temps other than the summer. I can grow indoors all winter and never need to heat the room. I can exhaust the hot air back into the house to warm it up a little too:thumbsup:

Lol adjusted reptile. I plan on going to vegas this summer but not to thrilled about the temps. Here we range from 0-100 in the coarse of a few months so adjusting is never easy especially when working outdoors.

I am going to go with three plants in the 50 gal tub, getting ready to plant in a bit.
2 MBAP, 1 NCH and 1 Stilton Special. I will probably do one MBAP in a 7 gal pot and the other 3 seeds in the tub under the autocobs. Since I am taking off the reflectors for this tub to protect the seedlings at the early stages of growth. I may as well take all 4 off to give me a nicer spread of light and allow for taller plants if needed

A little update on the autocob progress. It's Day 21 since the install. Tub 1 is all Skylar whites, 36 days for Skylar [HASHTAG]#1[/HASHTAG] and 25 days for [HASHTAG]#2[/HASHTAG] and [HASHTAG]#3[/HASHTAG].
The autocobs are blowing away the competition from what my eyes can see. The plants under the 600w hps are flowering nicely, but did have to veg for a week or two under the hps and have much less growth than those under the cobs.

The height on Skylar [HASHTAG]#1[/HASHTAG] is now at 26" and still stretching an inch or more per day this last week. Really bushing up nicely and looks to be real happy

The whole tub of Skylar Whites. Going to do a little lst on the smaller two, a little late to top or fim. They are going to need to take advantage of what space there is, skylar 1 is bushing up!

Two sprouts of three so far in the new tub, under two autocobs. Will be my first plants from sprout under the autocobs. Lights currently all the way up as far as they can go, 50" above sprouts.

Stilton Special, trifoliate! Should be interesting :smoking:
