So, I am a long time proponent to Haze plants and anything tropical sativa with powerful effects in the head. Since I was fairly young I have had migraines, but have been able to find ways to eliminate them from my normal way of life, though I do still occasionally suffer from one. A friends mother gave me some weed to smoke one time when she noticed I appeared to be offering from migraine symptoms, I blazed that funky, rancid, acidic, meaty smelling shit and got mind fucked, and my migraine melted away before it could fully set in. So began my life long love of cannabis, nearly 25 years ago. I only in the last few years began growing any of my own, due to it going legal where I live. So, I am fairly new and could use some guidance along the way, especially when it comes to what I am really starting this thread about: BREEDING.
I have recently purchased quite a few seeds. While most are for THC and it's beautiful benefits for my badly arthritic feet, I have also been purchasing genetics in the hopes of creating something of my own, something to be proud of, and try to be able to produce my own seeds for the fun of it. So, what I have to work with are Regular BOG Sweet and Sour Cindy, it was my number one choice out of all of BOG's amazing lineup, been reading about and itching to grow their gear for years, so happy I finally squeezed the trigger. I also just recently made an order for some Snow High Seeds Burmese Highland Thai/Highland Laotian/Senegalese sativa genetics. Sounded to me like a trifecta of spacy tropical sativa genetics to me, these are the regions the shit that makes your eyes wig out comes from... that's my kind of smoke. I want to get funky and dance like a monkey, all the while soaring to the moon. :smoking:
So, what I think is an excellent idea, since the Highland genetics are 16-20 week flowerers (WTF was I thinking???) is to cross the SS Cindy's and Highland to help reduce the flowering time, yet keep things pretty spacy with that Cinderella 99 (One of my faves of all time) basis for the SS Cindy's, it is a line of sativa going back to this very same region originally, I believe. Anyhow, I think combining the two after carefully selecting the Highland offspring to pollenate based on structure and probably growth rate would be high on my list to work towards, due to the long flowering time, be nice to veg pretty quick and make lots of bud sites to make sure the longer flowering time is worth it.
Then, to complicate (?) things, I want to take the resulting cross and turn it auto, not one version but two. The first one, to go back to my love of getting high AF and my eyes twitching out, so I need to choose a fast flowering, yet long vegging auto flowering male to use the pollen from to pollenate for a high THC version. Then, I want to use some regular Jem genetics I have to find a pollen donor to make a mellow and smoothed out version of the same cross, Jem comes in handy with the high CBG content that helps take away the psychoactive effects. Sounds counterproductive, right? But maybe not, most people I know that could use the mind opening effects of the Cindy/Highland types of weed feel that it is way too powerful, so if I can incorporate some CBG to help even the mental effects out, it could still help a person be more creative and open minded, without having to be so blazed you can't see straight.
Anyhow, this project will not start anytime real soon, as I do not have the room for it or equipment to even begin. But, it is fresh in my mind as I have been brainstorming and wanted to get some notes down as a start. Anyone who wants is welcome to join, the more the merrier. Commercial and smaller scale breeders are also quite welcome to chime in. :smoking:
