Indoor My Grow Setup Questions / Light leak question

Hello,

I am currently growing with the following "Ghetto" setup

1. 2x 125W 6300K CFL (large lamps)
2. 3x 105W 2700K CFL (large lamps)
3. A tent from Ikea (not made for growing) I use reflecting material once the plants grows bigger. (pictures below)

I will be adding a 400W Mars II or Cidley Apolo 4 (still debating)

Now here is my question.

I don't have any sort of exhaust or intake what I do is i keep 2 fans on my plant and I keep my "grow tent" open at all times.
This causes the light to "leak" out i wanted to know if my yield will be damaged severely because I keep the door open at all this? Or is it not a big deal?
About the smell i am using Ona which worked well on my 3 grows i had so far.

If I upgrade to the 400W Mars II or Cidley will I "waste" my money because the light leaks out or is it not a big deal?

The reason why I don't buy a exhaust is because I don't know where to put the exhaust since I am renting an apartment. Out the window is a bit too suspicious

Hi Cyklos, I can't quantify how much light you are loosing but in big grows I've seen online there is often no reflective material to be seen. I think the white fabric of your Ikea grow tent probably does a good job of reflecting light. I've read about people venting out the window through an old air conditioner from which they've removed the guts. Just make sure you use a carbon filter. Finally I really like my Mars II LED. The Mars Hydro lights are solid and work well. Good Luck

Direct light is the most important, so no big deal if you keep the door open.

If you are just using ONA you may find that you are just becoming used to the smell... be careful!

I appreciate the tips guys. Since I don't use an exhaust I cannot attach a carbon fitler correct?
Is there a product that works like a carbon filter that does not need to be attached to an exhaust.

You can vent into whatever space your tent is in. This will allow you to use a carbon filter. I don't think the device you've found on aliexpress will cut it. You are going to need to pump a lot of air through the filter to remove the smell.

No i meant that you need an exhaust fan in order for the carbon filter to work correct?
Could you maybe give me some product idea of a good exhaust & carbon filter maybe?

Erm im no expert or anything but looking at thats picture I see alot of wasted light, not necessarily from the door open but cfls tend to have more light light from the sides and you have them hanging vertically with no reflectors, you can even see that in your picture. If your changing to led then that will cure that one.

Not knocking it cos you've done 3 grows and been happy about smell but the first grow I did I had to chop early because the neighbour said he could smell weed, and he could. I suggest you get a extraction fan and carbon filter, you can find them on ebay very easily, shit im using a decent bathroom fan and carbon filter one a cheapy fan speed controller and its quiet and smell free with no ona. Like others said just vent it into the space tent is in especially as thats pretty much what your doing now. Just my thoughts, I wish you the best

Agree with minime, there is a lot of light being wasted there

You don't mention the dimensions of your grow area but a Rhino Pro filter & a RVK of the correct size would be on my wishlist...
