New Grower my GGAF 18 Octopot SoHum Living soil grow

Are the smaller ones all one soil? If so which?

The dark ones are all in the SoHum Living Soil
The lighter ones are the ones in MiracleGrow Organics. Haven’t adding anything yet, was think’N bout half way through was gonna do some teas... awesomesauce ty friend I was think’N the same thing @Frenjamin Banklin nitrogen how would I remedy that problem in soil ? I also think the soil ain’t suited that great for this system which is ok cause I’ll be buying shit-ton of MGO from now on :pass:

I’m not a soil grower but it’s a lot easier to add to a weak soil than correct a hot soil. Not much you can do with it other than ride it out. Flushing your organic souls will usually do more harm than good since they rely on a balance and flushing can remove more good than bad.
You don’t have burnt tips so although it might be a bit hot they will most likely grow through it. And it’s early in so the Sohum May kick ass in flower and the MGO might fall short But that’s why we experiment. Just have some ideas for bloom teas or bloom additives for when that happens.
I’m guessing you’ve already learned a few things that will help next time and save money. Keep up the journal and I’m sure everyone will chime in when they can.

Lots of options to re amend your soul when you are done. Don’t throw it out as it’s a good base for your next grow. If you have room you could re amend and let it cook during the next grow and then use it in the third. Unless you take a few days off to play with it and then start back up.

Just noticed that’s a tea from build a soil and not the soil amendment. Lots of much cheaper recipes on this forum somewhere. Seems like you might be paying for a lot of water there.

So I got some yellowing going on lack of nitrogen?

so all of the girls in the MGO are showing these signs what should I give them organically at this stage ?

Whole plant pictures?
Have you been keeping soil moist?
Did you add Recharge?
how are all the plants looking?
Did you buy/make a tea?
Did you buy any organic supplements?
How far up are the pots wicking water?
Did you ever top water to activate the upper layer?

MGO and most organic soil mixes need to be working/cooking to convert organic based into the nutrients that your plants need. I used Megacrop to get my MGO through flower. How is the Sohum did it work through the hot spots and did they even out? Really need to give us an environment also so we can throw some ideas at you. Humidity temp etc.

Took a peek at the website for the Octopot and honestly seems like a lot of advertising fluff. They continue to throw around organic but talk about adding nutrients to reservoir. They are extremely vague and missing a lot of useful information other than telling you that they outperform all other methods. Magic aeration, then they tailor the situation to say that you use less nutrients than any other method. Seems odd with fabric pots that evaporate but the compare it to DWC and having to do complete nutrient water changes. They claim it pre ents root rot and is magical in so many ways but no explanation. Not that I want to see some patent but it’s odd that they make this claim for a system that’s basically a bottom feed reservoir that a cloth bag sits in.

I suspect that the current issue is due to the design of the system not using the available nutrients or creating a truly living soil for your plants to use. The MGO plants were probably off to a great start working through the soil and growing fast. Roots hit the plain water red and now have nothing to eat. Probably only a percentage of your soil is actually feeding the roots. I’d very quickly get some nutrients and add them to the reservoirs. I’d also top water and just use the trays as a way to hold the run off.

I have to agree with FB,
Ditch the coolness factor,
Water/fertigate those 6 gal fabric pots normally,
And use the rez to catch your run off,
Finish these girls tried and true,

For next run it seems like maybe these need a really slow irrigation ring on top to really thrive, keep the whole medium moist, seems too quick to have used up all the nutes, maybe it's not wicking up too high, and your roots have completely bypassed the top half of your medium.
:goodluck:
