My plant is outside at my house but I had to go away to school at the beginning of September, so I've only been able to go home every couple of weeks to check on it. I know it's not going to yield hardly anything but I at least want it to be ready when I cut it down. Here's some pics, looking for some opinions on how much longer. Also the growth isn't as fast as I would like because the sunlight isn't great.

When the leaves turn yellow and start falling off.

I'm in a pretty cold climate and the frost is probably going to start at the beginning of October, should I harvest before frost hits?

Hey bud...with all of that surrounding overhead cover frost wont be too much of a problem, but extended cold days can be for sure...a healthy plant can usually take frost with minimal negative impact(my plants meet frost several times each season in sept/oct). Keep an eye out for mold(fold back the buds to look for brown or white spots)

OH btw i have had plants that i abandoned to weather and one had snow on it for 3 days...the weather turned good for a bunch of days and i pulled a decent harvest even though the leaves were beat to piss.
One thing i can tell you is if you pull that plant now you will barely get a couple of joints. Next year try to find a spot with more sun!

Thanks greenskell. I've actually read your guide to growing monster plants at least three times now. It's inspired me so much for next years plans. I'm hoping to pick up some Frisian dew and some other Dutch passion strains. Thanks for the advice!

As with all strains you need to have them located in a place that gets decent sun!! I do well in the location that gets 7 hours of sun that tapers down to less than 6 by harvest. Time your direct light and see what you are working with. One of the things i find in the partial light is some strains do only okay and end up with lots of wispy buds, but some end up doing well and get nice hard nugs...its all experimenting in such locations.
The techniques in the guide work well for plants in the partial light garden, but they really sine on full sun plants. Feel free to tag me any time bud, and i will help you out if i can.

The trees seem small enough you might be able to remove a few?Take trees to the south of where you want the plants. Try to never take a tree to the north, as it will not clear a path to the sun, and often can be strategically left to provide overhead frost cover and a certain amount of rain cover as well..

I've found a much clearer spot just a little walk through the woods from there so that's where I plan to put a few next year. And I'll probably cut a few of those trees down like you said and put a few there too. I'm really excited for next year because I've already learned so much from this 'trial run' haha. Part of my plan is to make some homemade pots of some sort that are like 5x5 and about 1.5 feet deep and use manure like you did in your guide. Next year I also want to try topping and bending the main stem over so the side shoots can go straight up
