Indoor My exhaust fan died I need a new one. Please Ideas

Thanks Muddy I checked them out. I thought the 400 cfm one seemed reasonable and they quoted with 35 shipping almost reasonable even for a cheap skate like me. However I took my broken squirrel cage fan off the wall and I think the problem with it is that the shaft is moving where it go's through the motor causing the edge of the fan blades to strike the casing. I am ging to try and fix it tomorrow before I give it the heave hoj.

Here's what I'm using. Have two of them and have had no issues. http://www.plantlightinghydroponics.com/inline-fans-active-air-c-76_744.html. Comes with a 5 year warranty.

No reason to spend money if you can fix it.

Muddy thinks I am a cheapskate. I am wicked hurt by his insinuation. He thinks I am trying to fix my old one because I am inclined not to spend my money. I want you to know that recycling is the new way to be enviorment consiencious. that is what I am doing here nothing like being to cheap to go a better working new one. Where are the administrators Muddy needs to be spanked again.

LOL, I don't think you're a cheapskate, I know you are! Hell, I'm the same way. If I can fix it rather than spend money I will.

Wow Muddy that makes you a chepskate also. I be when you get your check you are going out to look for a bigger, more powerfull, wider cut sitdown lawnmore. I so wish I had a new one also. My wife says we should use oup money to paint our house. I so don't want to paint our house. I hate ladders and I'm too old. I like the faded colour it is. I want a new lawnmoower too like muddy with a drink holder and a little fiberglass flag holder so they can find me in the long grass if I die cutting.

Well I just finished rebuilding my 6" squirel cage. I bought a 4" in line fan and it w2as pathetic didn't move enough air even though it was rated at 280 CFM. My old squirelcage rated at 350 cfm blows twice as much. I took the odl squirel cage apart and was abel to get a replacement bearing from an industrial supply place. They made the old fan easy to dissassemble and work on with hex screws that were easy to get too. Yeah for old time repairable technology. I wish LED panels were as easy to fix. LED panels are molded so you have to through them out . Boooo sucks.

Glad you got it fixed. Yes, I love the old repairable stuff too. Got an old GE oscillating fan that the motor went on after about 30 years. Even though it will cost me more than a new fan, I'm probably going to get the motor rewound. Should then last me another 30! Hate all the new plastic throw away stuff.

Good luck with your fan also Muddy. It is nice when things are worth repairing. It has truly become the age of throw away with cheap classless shit on the market. Every town used to have an electronics repair shop, a fridge and stove repair shop and someone who would fix your broken electric drill. Now most shops just look at you like your crazy when you say can you repair my computer printer or my LED light. they say if it is past warranty throw it out and get a new one. Hey muddy can you fix my lawn mower. It isn't starting well. I have had it for ten years. The answer is?

LOL, I suck when it comes to small engines. That's what I've got a step son for. He's a wiz with them. I assume you've checked the plug?

Fortunately I recently got turned on to a guy who does a lot of appliance repairs. The washing machine stopped working, called him, he diagnosed it over the phone, showed up 30 minutes later with the part and had it fixed in 15 minutes. AND, he only charge me $40, including the part.
