Yes they are
I use a digital kitchen scale, plus the weighting plate is way bigger too !
But I mix small amounts for a small garden ( gallon or less)
Weighing is a pain for me
I weigh usually one time, and that's to find out how many ppms are in the gram I am weighing
Then I just do ppms from there on out.
But to be honest a smaller grower can usually use spoon measurements if they are not pushing their crops.
If your running low ppms a little over is no biggie
But if push max ppms, aa scale or ppm meter is mandatory
( mandatory is a strong word " suggested" is better...)for your running on the razors edge.
