Before watering your pots, use your hand to gently loosen the top layer of soil and fill in the gap where the dry soil has pulled away from the pot. Doing so will allow the water to soak into the soil more evenly and help prevent it from running down the inside of the pots and straight out the bottom.

Thanks for this Muddy, I was wondering about that as I do it to try help the soil aerate between waterings, :Cool bud:
 
perlite is another way of keeping soil lose and well aerated.a SOFT plastic rod can be used to "spike aerate" the soil as well. just be careful not to damage the roots

Even a mix with a lot of perlite can get a crust on top. Good point on aerating. :thumbs:

I hate that, it's not natural, I NEVER see any soil like that in my garden or anywhere. It was Eyes on Fire who advised on that so credit his way :)

this is AWESOME is there anyone on here running organic soils using this????? i would love to hear some feedback this really is interesting i use tlo soil system and do the rev method and this would be amazing to combine with it
