My Fellow Autoflower Growers - Welcome
I have skipped journaling a couple of grows while doing a little experimentation, mainly just posting the occasional resulting Bud Porn. My setup is pretty much the same since 1/2 way through my first grow, I have moved to more Organic Soil mixed with Coco Coir but we will get to those details momentarily. Over these last couple non-documented of grows, the root development of the plants has increased dramatically.
The Configuration
Tent
> Melonfarm 48x24x60
Lights
> Hydropics COB 800 Watt
> Hi-SDard LED Full Spectrum UV IR 12-band 600 Watt
> LED 5K Bulb 100 Watt with reflectors - Qty x3
> LED UFO Full Spectrum 50 Watt
>> Light Schedule - 24/0 - I use to run a 20/4 light schedule but after reading the MG Grow guide, I changed it to 24/0
Pots
> Air-Pot 5 gallon - Qty 1
> Soft Felt 247 3 Gallon - Qty 5
Medium
*Note - I couldn't begin to tell you what percentage of each is included, texture I guess.
> Roots Organics ROGF
> Coco Coir
> Black Cow Mushroom Compost
> Unco Worm Castings
> Guano - about 1 cup - thin layer about 3/4 the way down
> Real Growers Recharge - about 1/3 cup, generally mix in around the Guano
> Perlite - I always put at least 1" of Perlite, generally 2", in the very bottom of the pot, very fine roots end up here.
>>>> Roots Organics ROGF is great stuff, lots of goodness in these bags. I was extremely stoked when reading in the Mephisto Genetics Grow Guide and seeing that they use Roots Organics at times. I breakup the compressed Coco Coir and mix in with the Roots Organics.
>>>> Black Cow Mushroom Compost has always been my secret weapon for whatever I am growing for over 15 years. The shit just grows big with this stuff. Throw in some worm castings and you have some a very very nice medium full of goodness, allows great drainage and allows the plants to
breath.........
*Note - With a substantial amount of Coco Coir, it is almost impossible to overwater your girls.
Coco Coir does not hold much water and our cannabis loves Coco Coir - Thats a fact - Jack!
Nutes
>> H20 - I oxygenate my water before mixing the Nutes. I have a dual air port (aquarium type) with an air-stone on each. I keep a couple of gallons of water with an air-stone in each. I think this is one of the reasons I have such great root development over the last couple of runs!!!!
> Mega Crop -- start at 2.5 grams per gallon in veg state and work up to 5 grams per gallon.
Mega Crop is not only a fantastic product but it really really simplifies the overall nute process. My wife can't stand the smell of it though. She will just has to deal with it
Anybody hanging around these forums knows about Mega Crop. I started using MC about halfway through my first indoor grow and never looked back. Get it, Use it.
> Real Growers Recharge - 1/4 tsp per gallon
I have been using Recharge for a couple of years. Indoor or Outdoor - another great product. It really doesn't have any ferts but has what you need for your root system. Recharge helps prevent PH Lockout and helps your roots to be more efficient with their intake. Additionally, Recharge has your old timey grandma's black Molasses in it.
**I use Recharge every feeding, its always the first item in.
> SuperThrive - 1/4 tps per gallon
you want good roots, SuperThrive is for you
> Flower Fuel - 1/4 tsp per gallon in flower
I just always get great results with this stuff
> Big Bud - 1/4 tsp per gallon
Big Bud is used week 2-4 of flower only, helps develop buds, terps, etc....
>Fox Farms Grow Big - 1 to 2 tsp per gallon during Veg mode
Grow Big is an excellent source for trace minerals
>Fox Farms Tiger Bloom - 1 to 2 tsp per gallon during Flower mode
Tiger Bloom also an excellent source for traces
> Compost Tea -- I think it is Botanicare, anyway 5 ml once per gallon once or twice a week
> Cal/Mag Plus - 4-5 ml per gallon every 3 days. If you want to avoid the dreaded 60 day Cal/Mag deficiency for Autoflowers, feed your girls Cal/Mag every few days.
*Note - With Coco Coir it is very important to get your dose of Cal/Mag in
**Note - Cal/Mag Plus has a N-P-K of 2-0-0 where just Cal/Mag is 0-0-0. Careful with Cal/Mag Plus, if you mix with some nutes, it will fudge your PH. I generally mix Cal/Mag Plus with the Compost Tea and just apply as separate feeding.
>>PH>> If I have setup my medium correctly, it should be my PH buffer. I still check my PH after each nute mix. I have an excellent water supply. The PPM is generally about 36 - That's way better than bottled water, basically top of the chart. So the less PH Up/Down I add, the lower the PPM. My water generally is about 7.4 out of the tap, again I oxygenate my water. 9 times out 10 when I finish my mix and check the PH, it is 6.1 to 6.5 with no need for PH up or down, which will only jack up your PPM.
Feeding Schedule
I feed my plants several times a day, never to the point that they that they drain out the bottom. With healthy vigorous growing plants, especially in flower mode, they are going to suck it down. Again, with a substantial amount of Coco Coir, you can't overwater (within reason, I don't think floaters count)
I always pre-mix my plant meds and dispense into 12-16 oz plastic bottles. I have labeled shelves in my grow room for each mixture. If you have plants at different stages requiring different mixes (veg vs flower), then it can save your ass by it organized. I generally keep a 1/2 to 1 gallon of lower PH water in the g room in case of fert burns. Fortunately, that has not happened in a long time.
The Plants
I have 6 plants in this run, and one is not a Mephisto Genetics strain. I had one Creme Of The Crops - PsychoFruit bean leftover. I really liked this strain. I have grown several Creme Of The Crop strains and always had very good yields - specifically Psychofruit and Cash Crop. Both are about 22% I think.
>> Mephisto Genetics - Blue Toof Special - 31 Days
>> Mephisto Genetics - Mystery Mix [HASHTAG]#1[/HASHTAG] - 31 Days
>> Mephisto Genetics - Mystery Mix [HASHTAG]#2[/HASHTAG] - 20 Days
>> Mephisto Genetics - Mystery Mix [HASHTAG]#3[/HASHTAG] - 9 Days
>> Mephisto Genetics - Forgotten Cookie - 5 Days
>> Creme of The Crop - PsychoFruit - 43 Days (***doesn't give you couchlock, psychofruit makes you hide behind the couch)
May have to come up with some type of poll or contest to guess the Mystery strains.... think about that 1.
That pretty much wraps it up. I am going to tag my grow buds that this old man's brain can remember, if I bypassed ya, no worries, I apologize, add yourself in. After toking on this wonderful plant for 45 years, I admit the neurons/synapse don't fire quite as often and fast as they used too.
Happy Tokes to all. Thanks for taking time to read my wandering senile ramblings and with all the fantastic knowledge on this great site, I think we can grow some serious shit, I know I can and will!!!
Muhahahahha! Bring on the Mad grower skills......
Throw some good Grow Karma my way............
