It definitely can be problematic. I've had a few that caused the stem to quickly wither away, and kill the sprout. As always, I planted her with the styler end down. I do believe in this case, an unusually thick shell is most likely the cause.Are "helmet heads" a real problem for the plant or just an annoyance for the grower? Does helmet heading delay growth at a critical time? Would proper orientation of the seed when planted prevent this?
